Keeper for next season?

Joe Murphy is one we've looked at before. I doubt Coventry will keep him as he will be one of their higher earners, but he could be in our price bracket.

Obviously with our relegation Turnbull is unlikely to stay and Sam Johnstone will be moving elsewhere.

I'd go for fodderingham from Swindon if possible

That's a good shout, but won't there be several Championship clubs after him?

Great move if we did get Foderingham, he's quality. He was my first choice for last season, before we got Turnbull.

Would it not be a positive sign of determination to get back up straight away if we could agree a package with Turnbull  though? Say he agrees a reduced fee but the bonus if promoted would mean he actually makes money on what he earned this season

That to me would be a great motivational tool to prove a determination to play football.

It all depends on what other offers he gets though, I'm sure he will get them based on how he played before injured

Doubt we would be able to afford Foderingham then.

Joe Murphy is a good shout by TRB. We could poach a few players from Cov they've got some very good players that we could get on a deflated price.

I think im correct in saying Marek Stech is ou of contract this year, he would be top of the pile for me.

Can't imagine us having a chance of getting Fodderingham don't think swindon would have any plans of getting rid of him to us. It's a shame we look to be back to square one with the keeper scenario we really need to get a good keeper signed up on longer than a year deal because we can't be having this every pre season.

I not sure we couldn't be competitive in trying to sign Ross Turnbull let's hope we try.

As I recall, JR said at last year's VSC AGM that Turnbull had signed for a fraction of what he was seeking (circa 3/8) so I don't think it realistic to expect him to be here next season

It all depends on what other offers he gets though, I'm sure he will get them based on how he played before injured

Ross Turnbull has a Champions League winners medal and only committed to us for one season in the championship. I doubt he'll be around next season.

Swindon are having to shed high earners so a good enough could get him

I'm sure the GK situatio will sort itself out. If Turnball doesn't stay there are plenty out there. Who'd heard of Sam Johnston?

He was absolutely fantastic in that game vs PNE at the Keepmoat, one of the best GK performances I have ever seen.

I can't believe how few are shouting for Turnbull. An absolute class goalie for us and at our level.

Surely to god that has to be our first priority, before we look elsewhere.

Definitely. I'm just realistic in that he'll likely be off.

I'd love to have Turnbull back next season.
Infact if that news broke I would probably celebrate, it would be the biggest signing we would need to make.

We all know the importance of a steady goalkeeper like him.

But I do believe he is far too good to be in league 1. Now, he has certainly proved himself at championship level, however with him missing much of the back end to the season. Maybe, just maybe he has fallen off the radar for a few clubs

If we'd stayed up I think there was an outside chance that he'd have stayed another season. Now, because of wages and the fact that he will want to be playing at a higher level, I think there's no chance.

Sorting out the goalkeeper is a priority though. I don't think the late signing of Turnbull did us any favours last season.

Yeah, nothing to do with his ability. If he wants to stay then that's brilliant. People just assume he'll want to move on to a Championship team as realistically we don't have much hope of keeping him.

I agree with you TRB, Joe Murphy would be good for us.  I've watched him train with the ROI squad, he is a strong personality and he organises his defenders with great authority.  They listen to him I can tell ye.

Good luck.

We need the first choice keeper for the start of preseason, loan keeper like Sam Johnson could not be available until the start of the season or even into the season when the 25 man squads are sorted. If we are serious about bouncing back at the first time of asking we need to be sorting out players quickly as possible.
