As Steer was an emergency loan deal, we could not extend it if we wanted to until January. Football League rules.  He had to go back, Villa did not recall him.

I don't think that is strictly true, because Steers loan was done during the transfer window it didn't come under the emergency loan banner and could be extended

Are you sure thats not what he said regarding johnstones loan, we can only have him initially until January under the emergency loan regulations, it can then be extended in January if we so wish

*when I say extended I mean a fresh loan deal can be negotiated

 Hi Filo

What was said about Steer was that the way his loan deal was done it could not be extended, and the word emergency was used, I think the maximum term allowed was 90 days.  From the Rovers point of view it worked out well. Had we been able to extend, I am sure Dickov would have done, but getting Sam back has to be a massive plus.

In Sam's  case we cannot, as an emergency loan, go any further than January, initially, but we will be able to extend in the window if all parties agree as that is when the window opens.
