Theo should have scored more, He missed several sitters. Play was set up for him and although 1 in 4 wasn't bad, it should have been more.

Billy's return of 1 in 4 wasn't bad, and I believe would have been more had we set the side up to serve him.

Mecheda only scored 2 goals in the first part of the season for us. I believe that he also would have scored more had we set the side up to serve him. He was prolific for Birmingham, and his goals probably kept them up, in place of us.

BST,

I'm not professing to be a football expert by any means. I just see things in a different way to you. You use statistics to prove your point, but when I counter with my statistics - you liken it to hitting a brick wall.

We all see the game differently. You might be right, I might be wrong. I just don't think that is the case.

Either way Billy Sharp should have earned respect from supporters of both sides of the argument, for his contribution to Doncaster Rovers. Why should Theo Robinson earn your respect more that you give Billy?
Is Theo's contribution bigger than Billy's ever was?

Any oTher player showing the body language of Billy last season would have been slaughtered on here and rightly so.
I thought that possibly he wasn't 100% fit. If he was then he was terrible. Chris Brown put him to shame work wise.

The Huddersfield goal wasn't debatable. Sat right behind it in the South Stand and he flicked it in with the outside of his boot.

It's not about statistics. They are facts that are unarguable. It's about his bizarre insistence that we somehow set up the side specifically to accommodate the skills of Robinson, and steadfastly refused to set up the side to accommodate the skills of Sharp, or Macheda.

But I'm sure you're right.

If it's not about statistics, why do you keep producing them?

Both Sharp and Mecheda are proven goal scorers at Championship level. You tell me why the side wasn't set up to accommodate them.......

I mean I have no annoyance with statistics. It's slanted interpretations that bore/annoy me. Value judgements with nothing to support them other than the fact that they back up a story that someone wants to tell.

The idea that we would deliberately set up a playing style to fit in around Robinson but not do so to fit in around a (previously) better striker like Sharp is, frankly, daft.

I think Robinson's style probably fitted more into the team's style, rather than the other way round. Mecheda's and Sharp's style obviously didn't, therefore a tactical change seemed necessary.
