Stop it Dickov
« on January 16, 2015, 12:11:56 pm by wing commander »
Quote from Dickov    "I don’t want to bleat on about money, but there’s a good few clubs with a lot of resources. I’ve spoken to managers up the top end, without naming names, and the sort of money they’ll be spending in January will make it difficult for a lot of other clubs.

To be a smaller club in this division and have a chance of competing, your recruitment has to be spot on. It’s not just about the ability of the players but also making sure you’re getting the right characters as well. If you’re leaving players out that you will rely on to come in when you make changes, you need to make sure you’ve got the right characters who will have reacted in the right way to not being picked. In the smaller squads, everything has to run like clockwork if you’re going to be pushing up the table."

Im getting a bit fed up with Dickov attitudes to were we should be..In the last few weeks weve had "play off never the intention" quote and now this..Sorry Paul but we are operating what im reliably told is a top 8 budget,so its time to start talking like one....

So in other words he is saying we have one of the smaller budgets.
Shame the board won't back him and show more ambition.  :headbang:

Whilst Dickov, has surprised us with some of his tactics at times actually working, one thing that lets him down in my opinion is his public speaking.  he just talks total b****cks and is constantly sending mixed messages to supporters.

I think he sees himself as better than the supporters and can say what he wants with no repercussions

He's very good at managing expectations, I'll give him that.

Don't think he has any reason to make it up,it was obvious from the start that we did not have 1 of the best budgets

Why would a manager from one club be telling another how much he is spending? if I was his chairman I would want to know.

All managers are. It's part if the job spec. O'Driscoll was a master of it until just before he was sacked. I knew he'd lost it when he said in an interview in early 2011/12 that we finally had a Championship level wage budget. That at a time when our centre halves were Lockwood, Naylor, Hird and Martis and we were on a winless run stretching back to the dawn of time. That was effectively signing his own P45.

We may well have the 8th biggest budget. It's just that the other 7 are (possibly) considerably bigger, hence we have the 8th biggest budget. Sounds to me like he's being entirely reasonable and managing expectations...

Under FFP rules all clubs have to submit ongoing financial data to the FL. That includes player budgets.
