We should have signed a two of Sharp, Macheda and Miller. We didn't, we went down.

Razak started enough times , he just didn't perform so didn't deserve another chance.
Sharp signing baffling?
Nobody was saying that at the time

Note "quarter fit Sharp".

We all wanted to sign him. Nobody other than whoever conducted the fitness test knew what bad shape he was in at the time.

He would've had a medical, a medical won't show if he's match fit or not .
The main problem with sharp is he's lost all confidence and fallen out of love with football
That won't show in a medical

Everyone was buzzing when sharp signed last season, he just wasn't the same billy sharp as the time before but at the time was a signing all rovers fans were happy with

Agreed, but was it that Sharp was poor (his Leeds spell may suggest that) or was it that we never got the best out of him?  I think it was a bit of both if I'm honest.  Dickov has shown that despite having been a striker, getting the strikers to score is a problem.  A lot of that is that the service in to them isn't great at all.

The symptom IMO is that we are too slow paced in midfield meaning teams have their defence back behind the ball.  Away from home teams attack more at us and we get goals on the break, but at home we can't stretch it as much and we have no plan B.  Equally the leges in midfield aren't there and that means we get hit on the break at home.

I totally agree with the midfield problem mate but I also think that for whatever reason Sharp was just poor that time around...

The record suggests that whatever's wrong with Sharp, it goes beyond Dickov's ability to get the best out of him.

Up to the end of 2011/12, his league scoring record was 119 goals in 222 starts and 28 sub appearances (1 goal every 1.9 starts or 2.1 total appearances).

Over the past 3 seasons he's scored 21 goals in 68 starts and 28 sub appearance (1 every 3.2 starts or 4.6 total appearances).

Last season, with us, he scored 4 in 15 starts and 1 sub appearance (1 every 3.75 starts and 4 total appearances). So his record with us is about where it's been with all the sides he's played for over the past 3 years.

Summat happened 3 years ago and he went from a scoring record like Michael Owen's to a scoring record worse than Theo Robinson's.

I don't think he touched the goal he claimed for us at Blackpool. I think the second one was dubious from memory as well. He realised at Saints he wasn't as good as he thought he was and it killed his confidence.

Wasn't that we never got the best from him, he hasn't done anything since the summer of 2012

Thinking about the theory why Billy (only!) scored 4 goals in 15 games for us last season (1 in 3.75), I wonder if it might be the same reason why Macheda only scored 3 goals in 15 games for us (1 in 5), before leaving for Birmingham where he scored 10 goals in 18 games (1 in 1.8) - resulting in Birmingham retaining there place in the Championship at the expense of us!

Despite Billy being much maligned during his spell with us last season, he STILL finished with the teams best goal per games ratio!

Chris Brown scored 1 every 4.4 games and Theo Robinson scored 1 every 5.4 games!
