Clarke - We're Ready For Doncaster
Tweet Defender Peter Clarke has said he feels Bury are more than ready for the League One opener this weekend against Doncaster Rovers.

With plenty of summer dealings by manager David Flitcroft, Clarke is himself a recent signing and he told the Official Site that whilst our defensive line might be largely a young group, they are a group determined to progress and improve and he includes Brighton loan stopper Christian Walton in that.

'Christian is only a young goalkeeper, relatively speaking, but he is a very confident young man. I think if you spoke to most people down at Brighton, and everyone involved in the underage teams with England, they would speak very highly of him. It`s going to be a benefit to him playing here this season, and I think he`ll get better as the campaign progresses.'

It's not just Walton who Clarke is looking forward to, it also includes Joe Riley, Nathan Cameron and Chris Hussey who are expected to be the regular defenders alongside him.

'The other boys in the back four, again are not as old as myself, but they all really want to work hard, want to learn and get better than they already are. Everyone in our defence wants to progress their careers and build on the knowledge they already have and the ability they already have.'

With hope and expectations high of us adjusting to League One pretty well following last year's promotion and consolidating our position in the division in 2015-16, Clarke went on to say that nobody could get carried away yet as there is a lot of work still to be done, but he feels we've got the group we need to achieve our aims and maybe even eek out a few positions more in the table.

'We aren`t getting carried away with things. I believe we have a good squad here with a decent group of players, and in an ideal scenario we`d like to be in the top half of the table come the end of the season. We have a group of talented players here, every single one of them wants to work hard and do their best for the team. The team is the most important thing, and all the individual players have shown that we all believe in that, which gives us a good opportunity to win games.'

Put some experience up against him. N'Guessan, Williams or Tyson will terrorise him.
