It was time to move on. Respect though. He was the chosen one at the time. It didn't quite work out though. Had some good memories, not many but there were a few.

Some people on here could manage to have an argument with their own shadow, even when they've got what they wanted!

Reading some of these comments it is like some of his berators are having a guilt trip now he has gone.
A bit like saying "perhaps he wasn't so bad" after a villain has died.

Nope not from me - unfortunately haven't seen enough in his tenure to believe real progress was even a remote possibility!

Cheers for trying Paul, good luck for the future and good bye!

He wasn't a villain for me. Just a manager who failed to deliver. I hope he'll dust himself down, learn a few lessons and do better in his next job.

I've met him. He's a decent guy who did and said a lot of the right things. But football is a results business, and the results he achieved weren't consistently good enough. The right decision has been made, but I hope things work out for him.

Sacked at the right time, but deserves respect for the way he handled things while he was manager, and the effort he put in while here, i am sure he will be compensated, but it will still be a kick in the teeth.

Lets be honest, he hasn't been getting much respect from quite a few posters on here and other forums.
Some of the stuff that has been written is a disgrace.

Watching him come off the pitch just beneath us at Gillingham amidst a mixture of applause for some players and a torrent of abuse, pointing and chants of --ck off Dickov withsome fans behaving like a lynch mob I felt quite sorry for him. He looked  sorely tempted to give some back, but kept his calm and didn't lower himself to their level.

I'll always remember the way he came over to the fans at the end of Leicester away in the Championship and we all chanted his name. I couldn't believe how we failed to get what we needed that day, it was so close. It could easily have gone the other way and then who knows how the following season might have turned out. Was that failure down to him? I think so, he should have kept us up but didn't.

He's still a young inexperienced manager and he may still come good. Sadly it didn't work out at Donny, but he seems to be an al round good football man and I wish him well in his next job. He has left Rovers without much (any?) chanting for his head which says something about his tenure.

I was brought up on the fact that manners cost nothing.
In my few meetings with PD I found him to be a thoroughly decent bloke who was a pleasure to meet.
Best wishes Paul and hope the next job goes well.... As long as it ain't Barnsley.

"Without much (any?) chanting for his head"

I agree but it is contrary to what many of the Dickov out brigade would want you to believe.
