I saw this earlier today.

Diouf might have a point about Gerrard (who knows (or who actually cares?)) but I can't help but feel the believability of his case is not helped by the fact that later in the same interview (I believe with a Senegalese radio station) he also claimed that he was one of the 7 best players ever in the world cup and worshipped the world over.

Is it just me that feels these sort of critisms of players, eg Steven Gerard on diouf, is a cowardly way to try and sell books ?
I appreciate we all don't get along but what a t**t to publicly give him stick
Diouf is well within his rights to respond and by all accounts Gerrard is talking to his lawyers, again what a t**t

It's all for publicity. One thing that resonates with me from Gerrard's accounts is this:

"The only positive aspect of the otherwise ugly signing of Diouf is that he worked hard on the pitch. He always wanted the ball, and he never hid."

I wasn't happy when we signed Diouf but could never fault his commitment on the pitch. His performance at West Ham was one of the finest individual performances by a Rovers player I've ever seen.

I wonder if theres any mention in Gerards book about the assualt he committed in a pub that he got away with, despite overwhelming CCTV evidence to incriminate him?

I can't see this with Gerrard at all. Ryan Babel has spoke out in his defence. He might be a lot of things but this sounds a load of tosh to sell books. Who would believe Diouf is more apt? Someone always causing controversy by spitting and the like.

Agree Diouf came with his controversial ways but you have to admit he was great entertainment in a shite season. Burnley was class, wind up merchant is all he was. The week we beat with Forest and drew with West Ham he stood and appaulded the fans for a good 10 mins on his own after the game. I enjoyed him.

He was our best player no doubt about it, but we were so desperate we had to sign him, i would rather the club has morals about signing players who behave like him, i would rather struggle than see players with his problems join us.
Gerrard who know's i can't see it myself, but we know as much about both players almost nothing, i never liked Gerrard either.

Every team he played in it all had to be about him, one of the biggest individuals going, that's why England never really formed into a team, with him and Lampard.

"The kids were understandably respectful and a little overawed. Until, that is, Gerrard smashed into a ridiculous challenge on the first team captain. Everyone was stunned, even the impish Fowler, as a prone Incey hurled out a series of outraged expletives at the insanity of YTS kid stood above him.Gerrard, though, looked down, and snorted that Ince should stop crying like a baby, and start getting used to it, because he was going take his place in the team. Silence for a second, with everyone speechless. Then all hell broke loose.

Moran actually stopped the session and sent everyone into the changing room, such was the fall out. No one could quite believe what they had witnessed, though Fowler and McManaman made sure everyone knew it really did happen. Especially Ince."

so you've read my "quote" about that "reckless tackle" if took me a couple of days to realise modern convention defines Paul ince as "black"  wonder if that tackle would have been made if Ince was defined as "white"  ?

Diouf cries wolf with racism too often.
