Off to London Saturday and Sunday with the Mrs for our anniversary I know my way round most of the areas but does anyone know of any hidden gems such as bars, restaurants and stuff to do?

If you like Chinese food, look up Chinatown, there's some really nice places round there.

If you are anywhere near Covent Garden, reserve a table at Circus http://circus-london.co.uk/

I went a few years ago and it was very good.  I wont spoil the surprise, but I think you will like it.  Take a ski-glove for some of their frozen cocktails though.  I nearly lost two fingers to frostbite.

Used to go in there years ago right quaint place, I seem to remember the front bars were always busy but if you went through the back it tended to be a bit quieter,
just up from Embankment Tube station past Embankment Gardens and its on the right hand side,
side entrance to Charing Cross  Station on the left.
2 or 3 minute walk from Embankment Tube

We found a bijou Italian place near Covent Garden which offered good value. It was called Pizza Express.

This place is a bit swish on Wardour St. Very nice for a spot of lunch.

Also Tas Restaurants, there are a few of them in London, very nice Turkish food.

And The Two Brothers Fish restaurant, Finchley. It does posh fish and chips basically. Jamie Oliver's favourite Fish and chips apparently.

There's a pub called The Lamb hidden away just off Russell Square. Right old fashioned kind of place. Serves Youngs.

Or you could try the Reform Club on Pall Mall. Chuffing fantastic place :) Might need a sponsor to get in though....

Bob,

The man is taking his missus out for a romantic weekend. The Lamb? And a political club?

If you're planning to go round any of the museums the British Museum is the best bar none.

Bar the V&A

The V&A might be the greatest collection in the world.

I can just spend hours in the Japanese rooms but I love going upstairs to the ironwork and looking at the stuff from South Yorkshire.

We went to Gaucho (steakhouse) at tower bridge.

Quite expensive but nice views over looking the tower lit up at night and the steak was stunning.

If you fancy steak you can not bear Flat Iron. It is absolutely outstanding, and the steak is only £10 so a bargain at that. I've eaten at some expensive steak places in London like the Hawksmoor but this is the best I've had, not to mention the value for money. You can't book a table but you can put your name down and grab a drink nearby - it's in the bottom end of Soho, just off Regent St.

I went to Goodmans Steakhouse last week. It's absolutely class, probably the best steak I've ever had, better than Gaucho as well I think but it is execellent there as well. . One of the best hidden gems is Zedel's Brassiere near Picadilly Circus. It's top notch inside, the interior unreal. It's pretty cheap as well being a brassiere. There is also a cocktail lounge there and they have entertainment in the evening. Top gaf.

Do they have a range of different size cups for your drinks?
