As has been said before, where are the bookies getting their info from to set these odds?  From bets arising from social media rumours?

Or from actual information like sightings of candidates at the club?

I'd say it's becoming less of a two horse race than before - I've been tracking the odds for a couple of weeks and it has been a one and two horse race for most of the time - 1/6 Clark for a while followed by 4/5 clark and 5/4 fergie and 20/1 bar. Now Dave Jones has shortened from 25/1 to 8/1. And rob Jones from 20/1 to 8's. Seems to me the bookies are guessing, and as an experienced betting man would say that there are at least 4 or 5 in with a chance - the only one I hadn't previously considered was Dave Jones. So the question is girls and boys, what would you think of that?

For what it's worth, although he wouldn't have been my first choice, I'd prefer him to Clark & Derry; not sure rob Jones is ready but would make a good number 2; and whilst I think fergie could do a good job I just can't warm to the man at all (not that it makes any difference as long as he succeeds!).

Jones and Jones anyone??

Sean Derry is my nightmare out of those, Sean would be my pick, none of the rest fill me with enthusiasm.

If you look at the DFP blog they are now saying that Dave Jones is now moving up the pecking order according to the bookies.

Where did that come from?  I don't remember seeing him being discussed on here.  It just goes to show how much we don't know what is going on behind the scenes...

The FP just reporting on what the betting markets say is pathetic.

As is the over reaction you see on here, to what is reported about the candidates.

I must admit I've never really warmed to Dave Jones. Was backed financially at Cardiff and he couldn't get them up plus in interviews it was always someone else's fault, never his. Never came across as inspirational or a master tactician.

I don't disagree actually, but when the competition are Lee Clark and Shaun Derry, then Dave Jones seems like a breath of fresh air!

Out of all the candidates mentioned (note mentioned - not necessarily in the frame) Ferguson is becoming more palatable

The lack of Rumour Mill threads on the managerial appointment are indicative that no one outside the club has any real idea what is going on.

On here all we really have are folks reacting to, and arguing about, bookies speculation and rantings on social media.

Where are all the sightings at the KM, or at that hotel in Bawtry etc?

Nothing, nada, zip...

Could we all be in for a surprise before the weekend?

Then again, if it is Rob Jones, cue the "waste of time" "cheap option" moaners on the forum!

I don't want to alarm everyone on this forum but a new manager has joined the "front runners" for the rovers job on odds checker. A certain Danny Wilson is now only 4/1 to add another South Yorkshire team to his CV! I know the bookies are only guessing but he wasn't anywhere in the betting an hour ago! Has there been a late leak??!!

Fergie jnr and Dave Jones look even better for every hour that passes!

I don't know why, I just have a feeling it'll be someone that nobody expects, or someone with really long odds.

I think those two statements go hand in hand!

I did actually mean someone who hasn't even got odds 😂

There may well even be candidates out there who don't have odds - until someone goes into a bookies and asks?

No one was talking about Dave Jones until yesterday were they?

True, but unless you were seriously in the know, say the board were going to appoint Hermann Hreidarson, there is no universe you'd back him.
