What a series of games that was in 1955 .  Childhood memory .... five games to decide a four round FA cup tie .. it was my fist season supporting Rovers but I can remember those extraordinary  games in bleak mid winter .. three played on grounds miles from either club I think.

Hillsborough, Maine Road and the Hawthorns, Brian. So I suppose one was relatively close to us and another was relatively close to Villa. The decisive game was played at The Hawthorns.
