Remember when?

We've now become the Aston Villa of the North.

However, when I first started supportingRovers I had no experience of Donny glory. I take the last few years as a marker of 'what we could do again' given the right manager and more importantly, the right players - how lucky were we to get Sullivan, Mills, Wellans, Stock, O'Connor, Mcindoe, Heffs and the rest?

A few decent signings, the youth coming on and the odd star player on the up/decline and I'm happy those days could return. Can't see Fergie being here though so I hope we get some ambitious young manager, what's Stock doing these days?

Yeah we've definitely been rock bottom of the division millions of points adrift all season haven't we.

if you think back to the dozen and more clubs of similarish size as us who have had their moment of glory in the top two leagues but who then tumbled back down the leagues from whence they came, sadly I suspect there isn't much tradition of 'what we could do again' ever happening. it might. But history suggests the odds are stacked against. We've had our time in the sun. It's back to reality now. Be interesting to see which of the noisy buggers on here are still around in 2 seasons time.

You can add Shackell, Sharp, Forrester and Duffy to that list, we've had some great players.

I wonder how the season would of panned out had we kept Keshi Abderson and Mattioni fit?

If you look at clubs similar to ourselves who we have competed with over the last decade it seems we could go either way...

Luton
Rotherham
Northampton
Brentford
Blackpool
Bournemouth

Its hard to compare but these are just a few towns I think have same sort of potential as Doncaster.
