Was I in Doncaster or Manchester today ?
« on September 10, 2016, 07:00:36 pm by Donnywolf »
Went in 2 well known Pubs today - names not necessary its not their fault

Both were packed for Man U v Man City. When City scored their goals 2 people cheered yet when Man U scored it was like being at a real game. About 2/3rds of the Pub were leaping up and down like demented loonies.

I got drowned by half a Pint when the celebrations were at their height and really I could not believe it. When did the nation become a one Team one ? They were so bigoted as well shouting for fouls, Penalties etc and of course they were slagging any Man City player who dared to be fouled etc .

I try to be objective and most of the time the Man U fans were simply wrong and they were offside or had fouled their counterparts and the Ref got lots right

I moved at Half Time and nearly got rolled. When Rooney committed a foul Clattenberg read him the riot act and so I assumed (wrongly) that he had been shown a Card for the double lunge in the first half and the Ref dare not produce another

He then did the foul on City's Keeper with the Ball long gone so I said aloud - he will be off for that. No chance pal said a nearby Man U fan - he's just getting his own back for when the Keeper nearly broke his leg ! Really I said ? Rooney should STILL be off seeing as he was doing 2 fouls at once earlier but he did not agree and I could hear him complaining in a loud voice until the end to his many mates.

Rooney did get a Yellow for the cynical hack of the keeper but as the Ref had chosen not to produce an earlier one for his challenges he stayed on. I crept off when the bloke was distracted but had better stay home next time !

So I am betting more people cheered the Ibrahimovic goal in pubs in the greater Doncaster area than will cheer Rovers next week at home v Newport .... and that's just so sad

Typical Man U "fans" really

Before the Premier league began I didn't mind United or for that matter their fans

Win a cup every few years and the fans had a certain gallows humour regarding the state of their team

Fast forward to now and they expect to win everything and if they don't it's because the refs are against them, they never get the decisions, etc.

Majority of those tossers who were in the pub wouldn't recognise Old Trafford if you dropped them off at the Stretford End

And you're right, they'd rather watch some overpaid prima donnas than getting behind their local team

Yes how different to the bloke I met on the train home after the Game. He asked the Guard how far from Scunny Station to Glanford Park. The Guard had no idea so I told him it was a bit of a hike and he should get a Taxi

Bear in mind this was a Southend fan and I and he caught the 15.08 train which would not get to Scunny till Half Time. He had had a series of late and missed trains on his journey but carried on regardless. I left him heading your way at 15.30 and I was disappointed for him as the final score was 4-0 and he would face a long long journey home

Meanwhile in Southend there would have been hundreds leaping up and down when Man U scored taking the easy way out glory hunting

It was a mildly entertaining game, although Sky treated as if we were watching the Second Coming. The game I watched this afternoon - Solihull Moors 2 Dagenham & Redbridge 5- was just as good a watch and had more goals.

Pity those folk in the pub don't appreciate what they have on their doorstep.

True .... but I cant believe the state they get in watching in a Pub

Firstly the beer throwing when Man U scored - most of it drowned me - contrasted massively with the 2 who cheered Citehs goals that was one more than cheered Celtics goals on the other Telly ! It was an early Season game ffs NOT the Champions League Final

Secondly how someone wanted to scrap (with me probably) for daring to suggest Rooney should have walked for his persistent fouling when imo he should have.

I used to fly from Manchester to my job in Denmark, and most flights even on the Sunday after a home match for MUFC where rammed with their fans going home to Copenhagen.

Every time I've been on a train to a game and had to change at Manchester, particularly Piccadilly, it's been packed with Asians in United gear making their way to or from the airport.
