Dingle in peace

fellas,

some of you have quite rightly picked up that after a decent half season in championship many of our players have been robbed. There is sensible comment on your site that there is a paradox in developing youngsters because they will leave almost the very second they start doing well. I have no idea what the answer is. After a long spell you appear on the move (well done) but at what stage do you lose all your squad, genuinely hope not too early.
the flip side is you sell your sell your soul to a tuna barron (or similar - lets face it- its obscure to say the least.!!) He gets fed up, (it's fishy anyway) lumbers you with a load of mega contracts you cant afford and then... bust....... keep on keeping on guys

Football seems to be polarising at a rapid rate of knots.
There are a lot of greedy people out there that care nothing for a club's history or tradition. They just see a possibility to perhaps reach the promised land by whatever means possible.
I honestly wonder where the game will be in another twenty or thirty years.

No we are not years behind any more.
Our youth development is now top class. The proof is in the eating isn't it.
Look at our production line now.
Yes 2 years ago we were way behind Barnsley's youth development.

Where's this proof then? I havent seen any of our youth graduates leave for the fees Barnsley have been paid.

What we have are a couple of players that have some potential, who are playing at the lowest tier of the professional game. Let's see how they do next year

Towards the end of last season DF applauded the Barnsley youth set up and intimated that it was the best way to go.I agree with his sentiments and one thing is in the proof of the fact they are in the Championship. Fair enough there is an exodus at the moment (but not until they beat that lot in the West Riding last week.) Their fan base is good also but can we just look at a broader picture in the fact that their Chairman is very ill and not in a position because of his health to keep financing the club, is it any wonder they are selling who knows....I wish Barnsley well for the rest of the season and more importantly their chairman, who I hope regains his full health as far as it is possible..In this stupid County built around Sheffield, it should have been Sheffield and Rotherham and left Donny and Barnsley with their cousins in the West Riding where we belonged. I would rather deal with a Dingle than a Dee Dah

Yeah, they are selling their best players at the moment but they've made over £15 million. Probably the best way you can grow a club, you can then invest that into infrastruture or new players who hopefully can make you as much money as who they replaced.

No with this board we may not need to sell.
Having said that everyone has their price of course. In 2/3 years time Mandeville, Lund, Middleton and Fielding may be worth serious money. Let's wait and see.
Our academy teams have done very well against Barnsley this season.
My step-son coaches in the academy and has done for 8/9 years.
I didn't say we're on par with Barnsley but we are catching up slow but sure.

The Barnsley way is the only reasonable way forward. As he said, the alternative is massive contracts which clubs of our size can't afford.

The only thing is there will be a section of fans who bemoan the sale of our best talent. The pros far outweigh the cons though.
