Ugo Ehiogu
« on April 21, 2017, 09:18:23 am by watto-drfc »
Former England and Aston Villa defender Ugo Ehiogu has died at the age of 44 after suffering a cardiac arrest at Tottenham's training centre on Thursday.

A Spurs statement said Ehiogu died in hospital in the early hours of Friday.

Ehiogu, who was Spurs' Under-23s coach, was capped four times by England.

"Words cannot express the shock and sadness that we all feel at the club," said Tottenham's head of coaching and development John McDermott.

"Ugo's immense presence will be irreplaceable."

Ehiogu made over 200 appearances for Aston Villa between 1991 and 2000 and then spent seven years at Middlesbrough.

He won the League Cup with Villa in 1994 and 1996, and also with Boro in 2004.

I can never understand how you can have a heart attack at a age like 44 and when you take into account that this former player would have been in very good condition for his age.

RIP Fella

Awful news, very saddening. Ugo was a big part of the Premier League as I was growing up, and 44 is no age at all.

Unless you get your heart checked you could be a ticking time-bomb. Health checks are now done on players following what happened to Fabrice Muamba.

A friend of mine recently thought he had heart burn, went to the doctors after a few days to be told he had suffered a heart attack. He had two blood clots and had he not gone in when he did, it most probably would have been all over for him in a few more days.

44 is no age for anyone.

I always liked him as a player. Tough consistent performer.

RIP Ugo

Sad news indeed always struck me as a proper player

Wife had to have a Pacemaker fitted at 37 years old - had no idea she needed it till she collapsed . It functions for an average of 8 hrs a day ( basically making up for when the heart doesn't ) . Lots of people have no idea what they are carrying on as normal with until something happens.

Everyone is different, to look at me you'd think I was a prime candidate for a heart attack. In my previous employment the company nurse did collesterol checks on us all, I was the fattest on the shift and everyone was aying how my collesterol would be through the roof, it came back at 3.2, while the skinny greyhounds of the shift were coming back at 14 and 15.

At my last diabetes check the doctor took me off asprin as she said my collesteroll was ok, my blood pressure was normal as well as my kidney and liver function, apart from my weight she didn't have me at high risk of a heart attack, and at nearly 54 i'm well into heart attack territory

I hope  you or your family never experience the loss of a loved one in such an unexpected way.
Anyhow get your facts right, it's a minutes applause to celebrate his life.
