Failure by refs to apply consistently the rules of football is the fundamental ptoblem. Holding shirts and wrapping players up in the box was supposed to have been sorted - any player seen doing either gets a red card. But for some reason the application of this did not last long - now you see very few refs applying it and the odd one does.
This behaviour in the box really winds me up and they need to apply it consistently across the league. Once a team get a couple of damaging red cards they might just start behaving themselves.

It never has been a red card offence nor should it be. Correct punishment is penalty or free kick and yellow card for the offender. That would soon sort it out.

In the first couple of prem games this season the refs seemed to be clamping down on this pulling back holding of players etc etc .think it was stoke who had penaltys against them two or three times in the early games.

Now I don't know if it's been stopped in the prem as i can't recall many penaltys given for such offences of late.

Question is have stoke changed the way they defend corners and free kicks etc etc

It is only a foul and penalty if you are wearing a Blackpool shirt and playing against the Rovers.

Players would have to adapt - i.e. stop cheating if pulling and wrestling were truly clamped down upon

After all they (well a lot of them) put their arms behind their backs now when a cross is sent towards them so that it wont give the Ref a chance to make a wrong decision. If it cant hit their hand / arm / shoulder it cant be given (well you know what I mean - some of the Muppets we get might still give one)

Easiest way to stop them from wrapping their arms around you is a quick flick to the b*llocks. Done it many a time, they soon stop even we they've moaned to the ref.

With the pace of today's games the officials can't keep up with the pace  of the game and see everything as they miss loads of stuff.

The officials should do better for sure ,but it's about time that the likes of the FA UEFA etc etc could rule on incidents after the game has finished.

I don't mean giving missed goals or taking away offside goals etc etc. but punishment for whatever foul play missed or got wrong.

Issue yelllow or red cards after the 90mins of football before the next game ,and take things from there.

With cameras at all games today just sit the fcukers down in a locked room watching over whatever.

So many watchers in sepperate rooms  for whatever league or compition.

It's impossible for the refs or linesman to even keep up with play today as players are far more fitter and faster and officials on the pitch need eyes in back of their heads..

That's not a foul either, considering you got the ball first.

People will be sick of me saying this .... but we have a 4th Official WASTING his time keeping 2 grown men in their Technical Boxes (and most of the time failing)

We have in general fairly fit blokes refereeing at probably twice the age of the younger Players and as you say they cant keep up SO ....

Take the 4th Official away and have a Ref in each half and with the existing Refs Assistant there will be 2 pairs of eyes in each half and the Ref would have less ground to cover and as a result maybe (just maybe) be more up with play and perhaps get more decisions right
