Gaz, as you know I have criticized Alfie a lot, last night he did his normal quota of running, but was well marked.
What he did to  score was hit the ball on the turn first time, without taking a touch too many, it did not allow the defender time to block although he did deflect it.
But that's what I want to see off Alfie, be more of a danger in the box.
He did his job to me, he scored and that is what he is paid for.

He seems a great lad and there’s never a shortage of effort but I just don’t see what he adds to the team. The shot did get blocked, it was just fortunate it deflected in. Hope he goes on a scoring run now and proves me wrong.

I really enjoyed watching Marquis play last night...ran his b*llocks off (as per usual), worked really hard to link up play, passed the ball better than he has done previously, and did very little of the moaning and ranting at team mates he did loads of in the last game. I'd have given him MotM for last night.

How he was still running with the energy he was in the last couple of minutes I have no idea.

I have to second that last post . What a man with the energy he displayed last night. He ran and ran chased every ball and didn't give their defenders and goalie a minuets peace. He was constantly surrounded by 2 or 3 defenders and drew a lot of fouls. My MOM between him and Butler with Lawlor not far behind. His 3 or 4 class saves kept us in the match. Well done to all.

I took a Barnsley supporter to the game last night. I asked him what he thought to Marquis, his reply was I wished we had him.
   Says it all really.

Marquis was excellent last night. Why would anyone think differently, even a Barnsley supporter?  :s

Yes, that was much more what I like to see from him and just got on with it. (Apart from the retaliation for which he got booked). He just needs the goals to back up his work rate.

Didn’t Lewis score our first two goals in the Championship, against Derby and then Cardiff in the first home game.

And?
What happened to the rest of the career

You really do live up to the first four letters of your screen name.

Less of the personal insults.

Yeah, the next time someone says I'm 'Bent' I'll demand they get a Yellow card!

I think it would be fairer to say that the Rochdale players surrounding the ref got JM booked. As far as I could see the ref wasn't going to take any action till then

Agreed on that point raven.
Their player (29) was laid on the grass slapping the ground as though he was in massive pain but as soon as the ref carded JM he got up and jogged back to halfway.
The ref was well and truly conned.
