Anyone else getting excited?

Love this competition, you can always guarantee top sporting drama, thrills, emotions and a roller coaster ride.

Really think its gonna be tough for ourselves, the yanks have got a really strong team this time round according to the world rankings.

Hope home support sees us through.

It usually does. They are talking about having it at neutral venues I understand.

I'm excited - we played our Darrington Golf Course Ryder Cup last week. 12 rabbits v 12 tigers - six pairs and then 12 singles - it was great fun.

Tigers won out as you'd expect (them being lower handicappers) but for the first time in ages my Rabbits team ran em close!

I was the only rabbit to win both my fixtures.

The real thing is amazing! Be interesting to see how the euro rookies (particularly rahm and Fleetwood) do - they've been in good form.

I think the English contingent will do well but expect the Americans to win overall - though it could be as close as 14.5 -13.5 - bring it on!

My favourite sporting event bar none.  I'm already tense and can't wait - I think it will be tight - I'll go 16 -12 Europe...

In the context of the Ryder Cup, 16-12 would be a bloody big win. More likely to be a point either way. USA clearly have the better team on paper, but home advantage might swing it for Europe.

Great event and as a failed Golfer (I am crap) I still love watching both it (for the spectacle) and The Masters (for the Course itself)

I was a bit miffed this morning listening to the Boos from the Crowd when the USA boys were teeing off. I know that this has been steadily building in intensity over the years but 2 wrongs dont make a right and we should be "bigger"

Finally a question that I have wanted to ask for years. Why do grown men go to (any) Golf Events and like the big gob this morning incessantly shout "go in the Hole" for goodness sake ? I used to shout S-H-O-O-T when Tim Ryan had the ball within 30 yards of the Goal but there I was inciting / encouraging him to shoot. I did not shout "Go in the Net" however if / when he DID shoot.

What next "Go in the Pocket" at Snooker ?

The Americans haven't won on European soil since 1993.

You're doing yourself down Wolfie regarding your golfing prowess.
I remember you being pretty good and capable of knocking it 300+ yards down the fairway.

I remember to this day Greening one at Staincross at 308 Yards but it was downhill and flat calm. The Ladies 4 Ball who were on the Greent were not impressed BUT that was a shot in a million ! I think you were there ?

That does not make me a Golfer though - just someone with the "ability" to thrash wildly at a Ball and once in 100 it went towards where it should !

8-4 now to Europe. That 16-12 might not be far off.

Wolf

I had a similar one years ago on the 8th or 9th or 10th at Lindrick. Absolutely creamed a tee shot and put it pin high on a 310yard hole.

Then took a chip and four putts from there. And did the whole round in 102.

But I'll always have that drive.

I probably was there Wolfie but I remember you regularly thrashing it miles.
My best remembered effort was on that long par 5 at Crookhill. I hit a decent drive maye 200 yards tops. Then thought sod it and tookthe driver out just off the fairway. I whacked it as hard as I could and bugger me caught it perfectly and it fizzed straight as an arrow and landed OVER the green. Must have gone at least 320 yards.
But like BST I still scored 100 plus.

...by the way John. I bumped into John McGlone at the races last week. He's just retired after 41 years at Rockware. I can remember him starting ffs.
Seems like nearly all our colleagues on B crew from the 70's are deceased.

Not sure if my father in law was on b crew, but he's 82 and still alive

I miss my golf...I used to play a lot when I was younger and was a member at Holme hall, got down to 12 Handicap..Then went out and treated myself to a brand new set of titleist made to measure clubs..
Sadly I never managed to use them, the day after they arrived,i put my back out pulling the bloody wheely bin...3years,3 discectomys and spinal fusion later I had to accept my golfing days were sadly done...
