Swap mason for butler then could work
Play 5 across the middle to slow them down . We have brilliant midfield who have ability to play close and get behind their defenders with Marquis the best striker in FL .

                    Marquis
                May OR Wilks .
  Rowe Kane Whiteman Crawford Copps
         Andrews Downing Mason
                      Marosi

What, no Anderson, Butler, or Wright?. Are you on drugs?.

Marosi
Blair Downing Butler Andrew
Crawford Whiteman Kane
Smith Marquis May

The reason for dropping Anderson is due to us bringing Downing in to stop the set piece goals and that he has partnered Butler before, the reason for Blair I think is obvious given the events of this week.

Portsmouth have signed another striker from Wigan James Vaughan. That’s the second this week from the Championship this game is getting harder.

It's creating an unsettled squad for them.

Not sure you’ve got a grasp of tactics, formations, and the type of players needed to play the required formation, are you Darren Ferguson?

Cannon and Morris two of Portsmouth's new signings look to be unfit to play, although Bogle and Vaughan look like starters up front for them tomorrow, and will no doubt be wanting to impress.
They look to have a strong squad, many of the players having played against us in the past if not for Pompey for other teams we have played against before such as Sonny Bradley at Plymouth.
There is no current mention of inclement weather threatening the game on their forums at the moment, but the weather between Doncaster and Portsmouth could be tricky, lets hope it clears up for those travelling tomorrow.

Pompey were lucky to get a point in our earlier meeting this season.
I know they may play better this time but we do have the beating of them on our good days.

I would say Pompey May be favourites for tomorrow but a concern may be how to integrate several new players straight into the team.

I’ll go for an early goal from a fired up Marquis tonset the game alight..

If you're driving down I'd advise taking the M1 route.

EXACTLY!!! They’d expect us to stick the same old same old ! . Keep it light at the back tight in the middle and fast up front .

Definitely winnable. Wasn't impressed with them at the Keepmoat. If our young players can keep their heads, there's no reason we can't get a good result.
I for one was impressed with them, we almost lost the game and they were fast on the counter, we did some very good saves and did they not hit the post late on

But isn't there a reason the same old is the same old? i don't think playing one centre half is going to throw pompey off if anything it'll give them plenty of encouragement.

I can see the merit of bringing Butler back in but, Anderson has done well and Downing deserves another shout after his strong debut last week.

Harsh on who every out of those 3 is on the bench but that's a good thing really. I feel like Downing will have to play we haven't signed him to sit on the bench so maybe it's easier to keep the players that started v Oldham. Personally i'd start with Butler and Downing which is hard on big Tom but we always look better with Butler organising in there

We can win, all the pressure will be on Pompey, especially from their fans if they make a poor start to the game.

I get what your saying but generally the back 4 as a unit need to be as settled as possible because it's all about teamwork and knowing where each other is.

Butler is the only naturally left sided centre half we have so should start for me.

The big problem now is who do we play at right back. The manager has gone on record as saying he doesn't like playing square pegs in round holes, so does he give Lewis a baptism of fire or go with Blair? Tough call. It would also be very tough on Anderson if he misses out, but I can see the case for Butler.

I prefer to see Matty on the right of our engine room 3, particularly away from home. But is it too much to expect Lewis to step in and do a job?

The other quandary is who makes the front 3? JM obviously picks himself, but what about either side of him? Wilks, Copps, Sadlier, May and Smith all vying to start.

The last remaining concern, for me, is the booking situation with both HK and Whiteman. We can maybe fill in for one of them (v Peterborough) but not both, if they both get yellow's.

Who'd be a manager?

McCann has some tough decisions to make but it is good that we have so many good options to choose from.
We have lots of games coming up so will need to utilise the squad.
Bring it on.

Presuming he is match fit, I'd stick Lewis in at RB tomorrow. That said, Blair has done a solid job there recently. I'd struggle not to keep Anderson in as well although it'd be with Butler for me, despite how good Downing played last week.

It's great to have a wealth of options available!

This will be a Stern test, Portsmouth have signed well in the window, we need to be at our best, win or draw would be a good result,

Team selection will be very interesting. I haven't got a clue which way he will go.

I hope to see Tyler Smith at some point. Very pacey, hard working and 2 goals on your debut. A dream start. Perhaps more level headed than Wilks.

Sadlier. Not much been said since last week but I thought he had a decent debut. Seemed to suffer a bit when he switched to the right side but looks a strong lad who's prepared to have a go. Not sure whether he or Crawford will start and it seems Rowe will have to be patient.

A game where we proved once again that we can match the best teams in this division and are more than capable of competing for a top six place if we are on our game, and capable of doing well if we get into the knock out stages, we should fear nobody at this level.
There is no arguing that we gave a poor goal away with a mistake by Marko, the only one of the game, but he proved what a great goalkeeper he can be in the remaining minutes of the game, and made several top draw saves, proving he did not let the goal effect him a good trait in a goalkeeper who all make mistakes over a number of games.
Lewis made his debut, Portsmouth picking him out for attention especially in the first quarter with attacks aimed down the right flank, but he did great, looked a good defender with pace, did not get pulled about, and was assured when he had the ball, everything we want out of young players.
The substitutes bench looked very strong, and proved so when Crawford came on for Whiteman and played very very well, both winning the ball, and setting up attacks, and with Kane looking back to full fitness and playing well we looked a force.
Marquis and Wilks were tightly marked and Portsmouth got bodies around them when they got possession, but Wilks was on his game, got the goal with a sprint of lightening pace leaving defenders in his wake, and John bringing out a good save from the goalkeeper.
All in all a good performance at a difficult place to go, and a team that was smarting from recent results, and with new signings making their home debuts, and a partisan large crowd.
That brings me to our own away following, they were great, well behaved and got behind the team, especially after the equaliser, and after the media coverage of the bad travelling conditions especially in Hampshire on Friday, deserve plaudits for their commitment and enthusiasm and the numbers that went to the game.

I guess that must be the first time we have fielded 5 loanees.

Very impressed with the way played and kept Pompey on their heals . Shame about Maros’s mistake a win would have been nice . If we work as hard as that from here on in , we’ll be challenging for a top 2 slot .

Nah, I'm fairly sure we fielded 5 in the experiment season. I seem to think Ben Alnwick (was it him) couldn't be in the squad because of the number of loanees we had.
