Having had the pleasure of listening to their early stuff again recently I am struck by how brilliant this is.

It isn't my favourite SP track. That's a toss up between The Sweetest Girl and Skank Bloc Bologna (although Perfect Way comes close) but it shows what a wonderful, creative outfit they were.

Yeah I quite liked Scritti Politti too. They’re one of those bands who I’ve not listened to for one reason or another for years. On the subject of The Sweetest Girl, I remember Madness covering the song & absolutely destroying it, then having the front to release it as a single!

I had Cupid and psyche on vinyl.. still got it..

What struck me at the time was that even on a cheap record player the clarity of the sound production quality was a quantum leap better than other records of the time..

That Madness cover was awful. I quite liked them before that but it put me right off them.
