Last day drama
« on May 05, 2019, 10:00:26 am by Jenny »
I dont know about anyone else, but I'd love a season where significant moments dont boil down to the last game.

Thinking about the last decade or so:

Promotion to the championship - threw away automatic promotion on the last day of the season at Cheltenham.

League one title - injury time drama at Brentford.

Relegation from the championship - last day defeat at Leicester.

Promotion from League Two - throwing away the title at Hartlepool.

Securing League One play offs - taking it down to the wire against Coventry.

How nice must it have been to be a Charlton fan yesterday and only having to worry about who you would be playing in the play offs. I think I've had enough last day drama to last me a while!

I think we all expected to get beat there, it was something like a 96th minute goal by Birmingham that condemmed us

It was in our hands though, even more so with the way Leicester played on the day.

Not too boring is it? We've had our fair share of drama. The penalty shoot out at Chester and the golden goal at Stoke prepared us for modern day football. No wonder I'm follically challenged!

Last kick of the chuffing season, it was.

And a blatant foul in the build up.

For me the conference promotion was the most nerve wracking

b*llocks. I love last day drama. It gives you the kind of emotion during a game that you only really otherwise get from a big Cup tie. I've not experienced anything at football like that first goal for a long while - and part of that was because I and those around me knew Posh were in front.

Yep, me too.
The play offs have made a big difference to football drama over the past few years.

That second half was absolutely immense. Buckets of shithousery, misplaced passes, tomfoolery, ineptitude and brilliance, pitch invasions and sprinklers.

Chester away in 2nd leg was worst I have experienced.
That was utter torture. Can’t ever go through that drama again.

i've always laughed at that lot since the win at there's in the "out the league" season - who was that, Mike smith or Ady Mike - someone with a Mike in their name !

Yes I was there that night, a real backs to the wall job & we nicked it in injury time through Smith I believe, Seem to remember a young centre half who played like ten men that night. Was also the night when some Brighton fans travelled to the game to support us.

Oh God I had somehow forgotten about Chester. What an awful yet amazing experience that was.

Penalties at far end as well. Could only see what was going on by looking at reaction of Chester fans.
