The Wilks situation might not be helped by his upcoming court case.

Kane no thanks.??

Care to expand on that.? For the most part of the season he was outstanding..
Simple he just doesn’t fancy doing the hard work required when your on loan , his heart isn’t in it  . He also has NO chance ever playing in this Liverpool team and he knows that.
Please tell me your just a wind up merchant.

Kane is a brilliant player and I cannot believe anybody who actually understands football and has watched him over the course of the season wouldn’t take him back at this level.

Grant has got a massive job on rebuilding wise by the looks of it and it will be quite a different team next season I would imagine, which is disappointing but I suppose that’s the way it is when you use the loan market.

We can’t complain though becaue Kane and Wilks have arguably been two of our best players over the course of the season.  If we could get two more next year just half as good as they have been I would be happy.

There could be players shuffling back and forth between us and the Posh this Summer.

As good as they are, Kane and Wilks are not irreplaceable, we must remember that. Finding the right players to replace then won't be easy however, I think a player who's capable of scoring 15 goals a season at least is Sadlier.

Might not be so easy to find a player as explosive as Wilks but maybe one who's a little more predictable but can still contribute with goals and assists.

It will be intruiging to see who McCann has lined up, even if there is a Peterborough connection. If McCann believes in them then that's good enough for me.

I hope Downing signs first of all mind!

Not sure where all the Peterborough player talk is coming from - let’s not forget that McCann was here last summer and didn’t bring any of his former players with him. That said if they improve our team I couldn’t care less where they come from, and given they finished just behind us with Fergie at the wheel they must have some decent players.

I think Herbie will go on pre season tour with Liverpool for them to assess him and then they’ll decide where he goes next, would n’t be surprised to see him pop up at Rangers

McCann said he's quite down the line with some signings and emphatic that we'll be stronger. Aiming for top two. I believe that will be true.

Next stop, the supporters beach - that was too much stress!
that does not work for me as Grant is not going to say we are going to be weaker is he, he I obviously going to say we are going to be a lot stronger or fan will not go and buy tickets, but I hope he is right. I am looking forward to next season

He’d be as well staying here. I dont think playing football in scotland would help his progression.

He wouldn’t have as many tough matches to play in would he.
Better for him to be in English football.

Suspect he was just thinking out loud but Liam Hoden saying last night that maybe Joe Wright is a long term right back solution?

This is the problem with loans once their time is up it can create a real problem to replace them effectively .

The loan lads have all played a major part in Rovers reaching the play offs and now it's likely a huge hole in the squad will need massively addressing .

I understand the concept of recruiting loans but I can't help thinking that producing your own talent is the better route long term , root and branch if you like .

There's nothing better than seeing as fans your own talent out there representing you rather than kids from the big PL clubs in my opinion .

On the face of it, there looks to be a lot of upheaval in the offing, but it's pretty much the same at the end of every season nowadays.
I have every faith in our management team to get the right players in & keep the right players from the current squad to be in the right place for the start of next season.

I ageee with loans but the thing is, it is unlikely we would’ve been able to attract anybody of Wilks,Kanes quality on permanent deals.

Generally speaking I would rather have contracted players but every now and again when a genuine quality player becomes available we would be daft not to utilise the market.

We’ll just have to see what happens over the summer. The rumour mill will start and we’ll get linked with all sorts of players. Clearly we’ll need to bring some in but we can’t and won’t necessarily be chasing finished articles.

Last year we brought in Wilks who had struggled to get in Accrington Stanley’s team, and Kane who had never played a senior game (when most of us thought we needed an experienced player in the middle). I remember voicing some disappointment at how both of them appeared on paper, and it shows what I know!

I’m excited to see how we push on from here and feel optimistic about next season based on what we’ve seen in this campaign. But get set for the typical long summer of nonsense flying around before we get back to business on the pitch in August.

The thought crossed my mind after the game - thought he’d got forward well and he put a couple of decent balls into the box. He could certainly fill in there and I wouldn’t be concerned but I’d still like to see us bring in an established LT solution at right back.

Jermaine Anderson, Paul Taylor and Kieran Sadlier were all Posh at some stage, and I think during GM's time there as player or manager.

There have been rumours (ok only rumours) linking us with Tafazolli and Chapman from Posh

But I agree with you - if a player improves us and fits in with our club behaviour ethos then it doesn't matter where they come from.

Next season we needs a Rovers team that plays like the play-off 2nd leg, not like play-off 1st leg. We were too inconsistent this past season to seriously challenge for the top two. We need to learn from Luton and the Dingles to have a team that wins week in week out.
