Barnsley’s new keeper
« on June 19, 2019, 11:14:30 pm by Draytonian III »
Before anyone starts jumping all over this post I know it’s not about OUR team, but our near neighbours have signed a new goal keeper,Brad Collins ,and given him a 4 YEAR CONTRACT with the option of a further year. He must be on some mega wages or being doing some part time missionary work. Who would want to spend 4 days in Barnsley never mind 4 bloody years.

It’s a long contract, must admit I looked at it earlier and thought about it. Nice for a player if they can get that type of security though.

If players are good enough then give them longer contracts unlike us having to rebuild every two years with many players out of contract at once

He's got a year longer than we normally offer , decent pedigree so I guess the club feel the extra year is warranted .

Played at Burton Albion last season on loan and was impressive .

Was just thinking would that make their keeper from last season available, but it looks like he’s rumoured to be going Stoke

I agree. For me 3 year deals are much better.

A longer contract for a decent young player protects for club too. If he's one of the best in the Championship in 2 years time they'll get a decent amount because of him having plenty of time left on his contract

Surely it’s just down to belief in the player.

I never like 2 years as after year 1 the trouble starts and you have to start talking to the player or if they are outstanding you are in danger of them going

Officially signs for Stoke City on June 30th when his contract expires with ourselves .
