SOD

No no. I am not suggesting him to return.

This McCann saga has got me thinking about loyalty in football. Can anyone confirm If I am remembering this correctly - didn't So'D have protracted talks with Burnley about moving there (he even went to Burnley physically)? Was there also at least one other club he talked to or am I remembering that wrong? Can anyone remember who it was?

Anyway, the conclusion is there no loyalty these days (apart from on the terraces). McCanns going, Saunders went, Sod would have gone under the right conditions. Dickov would have left if he was any good.

I think with sod he had earnt the the right to test himself at a higher level.
McCann we gave him a job when he didn’t have one and he’s only been here a year, he’s banged on about players showing loyalty and he’s let players go that other managers would’ve probably kept because he thought he could get better but if he goes he’s left us with nobody any better just a very very frail squad 5/6 weeks before the season stars

Sean was and is a rare, rare breed in football. In many ways a man out of time, yet got us playing football in a way that showed he knew where the sport was heading.

CIM,
For all Sean's failings I would have him back in a shot. I had forgotten about the Blades, it was an interview I think! Sean and Richard yes that would do for me on a ten year contract and a huge budget, just dreaming.

FYI.....What might have been! Sean went over to Halifax with Butler our goalkeeper coach on a Tuesday night game to assess a player called Vardy. Vardy scored that night. Sean may have signed Vardy but Halifax wanted £400,000 for him and in Sean's own words "I didn't have 400 pence to spend"

I made this point separately - objectively he would be a good manager for us to consider. The only issue is that he has been here before and you should never go back. His whole philosophy would seem to sit well with the current ownership who seem prepared to take their time and build.
