Great news and a good choice, must mean he’s definitely staying too

Great news. A natural leader who takes responsibility. You could see him at times having words with Wilks and Marquis when both were about to lose their heads.

Know's when it's the right time to take one for the team and to step up to the plate with spot kicks (and goalkeeping duty!)

An old head on young shoulders and sets a great example.

I remember Marquis having a go at Whiteman for not tracking and making a challenge in the Cov game for his man in front of the East Stand

Proper player this guy. He looked like captain material last season so great to see him given the role.

Terrible decision, ( I don’t mean that, ...just getting a feel for what it must be like to throw out random unqualified nonsense...lol)

I loved it last season when he seemed to be on 4 yellows for 10-15 games without getting booked, showed incredible maturity

It was very good on his part but I think it was more like five games.

Coppinger is the new Club Captain as well, taking over from Andy Butler.

It's probably a not so thinly veiled dig at the club implying Whiteman will be sold as well.
