Its called The Black Bank though
Casting my mind back wasn't The Black Bank just the singing section of the South Stand?

Hair splitting, the whole stand is now effectively called that.

Statues are for people who left the club some time ago. There's a reason for that. Give it 10/20 years

I do think we should wait until Copps retires, if only for finite games and goals totals on the plaque. Or, we put a target, say 1000 games, he'll be playing long enough 😂

Essien, Gyan, Neymar, Messi, Ronaldo, all with statues or busts in ‘prominent’ places, & all still playing....according to Google.

Name the South Stand ‘ The Coppinger End’ in huge letters with a No.26 on each side & have done with!

If we wait until his retires none of us will ever see it!

As great as Copps is/has been, I think he's at least one significant place behind in the queue for a statue.

I agree BR, Alick’s (if I had my way) statue should sit where The Lady of The Lake statue is currently sited (with all due respects to its creator) right smack as you approach the stadium.

Does the club have ‘any clout’ on the matter should it be mooted?

That still leaves a stand for Copp’s to be honoured in having it named after him, once he retires naturally.

What's the point of waiting for the sake of it though? Better to commemorate such a player when he's still around, surely.

He's still around, so watch the guy play, what could be more meaningful. Why have a statue just for the sake of it?

Anyway, as I mentioned, he's at the very best in second place for a statue even if his career had ended.

The statue wouldn't be for the sake of it though, it would be to mark his achievements as a Rovers player?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not wedded to the idea or anything but I don't see why it has to be for retired players or long gone legends etc. If you're worthy, you're worthy.
