Perhaps we could arrange a Remainers v Leavers Christmas day football match reminiscent of the WW1 England/Germany Christmas day truce in 1914.

Just to appease the Remainers, in the event of a Leave win we could re-play the game on Boxing day.

You Leavers might struggle with all your zimmer frames.

Here we go again, same old insults.

See you in 2024 for another pasting. Don't be late.

Actually the the last line does make the question. If Boris did Get Brexit Done and it was a complete disaster, would you still vote for him anyway or would you realise he's led you down the garden path and reject him?

I didn't vote for him this time, let alone next time.

The Tories didn't win the Election, Labour lost it.

Whether I agree or disagree with any of that is irrelevant.

You've won on that issue. We ARE leaving the EU. That's a battle you no longer have to fight.

But I've still got no idea of what you actually DO want us to be. I know plenty of what you dislike, but I'm genuinely interested in what positive things you want for the future.

Something positive then, A conservative PM will be in power for the next ten years.

I'll be patient.

I mean, what sort of society do you want us to be?

I'll give you an example. I want us to be a wealthy, stable, comfortable country. I want us to deservedly have the respect of the world for our success and our tolerance. I want us to give opportunities to everyone and to look after those who hit on hard times. I want us to define ourselves by what we can do positively, not by the negatives we see in other people.

And here's a real biggie to think about during 10 years of Tory rule. This is the society that we have become after the last ten years of Tory rule.

More than anything, I'd like the people of the post industrial North to ask themselves why this has happened, who has encouraged it, and who will help us reverse it.

I accept that's a lost cause with you, because to you it's not about who wins. It's about who loses. I truly pity that outlook. There'll be younger generations coming through in time who WILL be fired up to put this right though.
