It is absolutely dreadful but these things can happen. What is important is that we now take this opportunity to start preparing for next season now. Not when the season ends, but now. We can make what we can of the remaining games, but we need to start this process to recruit a new manager now.

Looking back, the decision to appoint Butler until the end of the season need not have been made so hastily, so that was an error by the Chairman and the CEO. AB could hardly have grumbled only to be put on trial, but it wouldn’t have been difficult to replace him. By now, they could have looked around and found a competent replacement.

They are a disheartened bunch whether or not they are trying, justifiably. Did they seem as fit as Wigan?

We are a respected club - taken some hard work both on & off field and we should strive to maintain that. However , Butler must go.
In my mind it doesnt suggest weakness for AB to be dismissed - after all he has only been given reigns on a temporary basis. It hasnt worked out - simple - unfortunate - Rovers go on. The board could show strength by approaching a manager - giving him time to look at players before end of season.
Personally - I would be looking at Stendall - complete change of style - and avoid eg Wellens who whilst probs one of best ever Rovers players our attitude to him will always be compromised

What's done is done. We are in League One next season now, so let's start looking ahead to a summer of rebuilding under a new manager. Butler did his best, but there was a tough job to turn this team around. We were on the slide under Moore and anyone who witnessed the Sunderland debacle could see there are deep seated issues, particuarly at the back.

Oh dear, pick the bones out of that performance. There were times in that game when Wigan just ran straight past us like we weren't there, why is that happening. We were weak in challenges & easily knocked off the ball on many occasions. It looked like Wigan were playing our under 18s. We can't keep playing the blame game though, manager or players, we need to act now in readiness for next season & get those applications in.
