Thank goodness many amongst the general public have more sense than Johnson.Covid infections haven't really gone below 20,000 a day and are now on the rise again. With some nanny state left in place, we would have done better than this and the NHS would be in a better position for the coming Autumn.

Everytime the numbers slightly rise you blaming the government, at the start of the pandemic yes the government made mistakes since just after Xmas your predictions rd have been completely wrong but still you keep going on about rising cases

Everytime the numbers slightly rise you blaming the government, at the start of the pandemic yes the government made mistakes since just after Xmas your predictions rd have been completely wrong but still you keep going on about rising cases I thought the numbers would be terrible because the government told me to expect them to be terrible and their scientists suggested they could be twice as bad as that.As it is they've only been moderately bad, a result the government weren't anticipating. The current r number is based on numbers from two to three weeks ago according to gov.uk.The daily numbers we have seen over the last 5 days suggest that is changing now as raw figures coming in are 2,000 - 3,000 greater than they were the previous week. It suggests the r number has begun to rise again. That makes me suspect we aren't out of the woods yet.Edit. My opinion is we have a dangerous virus circulating and the more we can do to reduce it the better, for a few reasons. That's why I think the government are still wrong to make mask wearing a matter of personal choice in settings like shops. It's a simple precaution for the good of all that doesn't affect economic activity.
I think we'd only see a big resurgence in flu if people returned to their normal habits. So far I don't think we're seeing it. There's still a lot of mask wearing going on, hand sanitizer being used regularly, working from home, eating outside or using takeaways and the avoidance of crowded indoor spaces. When the booster jabs for the over 50s roll out, it will come with a flu jab in the other arm.I reckon the flu will still be held down.
