And why would I do that? To avoid an unfair tax? If the bbc is as good as some say then it can stand on its own feet and have ppl pay for it by choice rather than coercion

I've cracked it for you Ldr, if you do a deal with your neighbour and they get a second telly you can watch it through a hole in the fence, tada.

So your going to deflect from my point with attempted humour? Come on Syd that’s beneath you mate. The BBCs funding is an outdated concept and ppl should have a choice

If we used a model where we only paid for the bits we want it would probably cost more. I have sky sports, I don't watch netball but I pay for it.

No mention of the other publicly funded items such as channel 4 either.

I find the publishing of salaries very unfair personally. These guys aren't a charity and if you want it to be good pay the going rate.

My main concern is that commercial actors always want to downgrade or get rid of state tv so they can fill the space. Those on the right always want to control the media as they don't want pesky ch 4 and panorama doing their investigative work. If the licence goes the government will be in a better position to control the bbc by the budget.

I watched the England game tonight and paid attention to the adverts.
Dominoes pizza. Don’t buy them. Never have.
Jd sports. Don’t go in there. Never have .
Tech, such as mobile phones (3) yep I have a mobile, but I keep it as long as poss on pay as u go sim and I still have an iPhone 5.
Asda, yep, I shop in there, but do they charge me an extra 100 odd quid a year to advertise on itv?
I am not part of the buy everything you see advertised on telly. I’m ok with advertisement paying for tv. I don’t believe I am a commodity to this.

We always turn the sound off for adverts, it helps to keep your concentration on the programme you are watching.

as do we, as well as for the longer and longer and longer intro's to programs telling you all about what you're just about to watch

Do you have kids in school?

Plenty don't but still pay taxes that pay teachers' wages. Because it's better than the alternative.

Just record the programme then fast forward the adverts, we hardly ever watch "live" tv except for sport

Good point. I don't see why i should pay for other people to have kids.

I don't pay attention to any adverts ever. They're just people trying to convince you that you need this, that or the other piece of tat or unhealthy food.
If i decide i need to buy anything i will do my own research before purchasing. I don't look for the cheapest, i look for what will work best for me, how reliable is it, can it be repaired and how long will it last? As an example a rohan t shirt may cost 30-40 quid but i still have some which although almost twenty years old still look like brand new.

The whole point about stinging a mark is that the mark should never know they have been stung.

How can you be stung if you ignore it and turn it off? To be honest i don't really buy much. I don't do phones, technology, gadgets or stuff like that, I buy stuff i need if it's worn out.
It's not having what you want, it's wanting what you've got.

According to Buddhism, suffering arises from attachment to desires. The reason desiring causes suffering is because attachments are transient and loss is inevitable. Buddhism says that the only constant in the universe is change, and by desiring you are trying to control and make something fixed.

Many things like company ads it's for brand recognition and reinforcement.
