Good article, to which I would add one consideration. Our process for bringing in transfers is not the only problem, the process for managerial appointment is ineffective. We have a process in place to select a new manager. It is longer than most clubs use, but it has led to appointments which did not continue, because individuals chose to leave. Now this is par for the course in modern football, but the disruption caused by staff departures (as a unit usually) takes a period of recovery. A new boss inherits contracts agreed by previous managers which restrict his options.Maybe we need to have guidance on what we expect contract extensions with current staff to involve. Was it reasonable to give Taylor 3 years just before bringing in a new manager? The other elephant in the room is man management skills, and how Rovers assess this important aspect. This is a critical part of the job, yet some with a football background are poor at understanding how best to go about it.Do DRFC endorse the exclusion of paid employees on gardening leave?Perhaps the club need to have guidance on how to manage these situations in a reasonable way!
I'd say we are Jack Douglas walking into L2.
