Mush, Adam, and anyone else who'd booked rail tickets, the news now looks very good. Last Saturday, trains to London were running every 2 hours, and they expect the same on the 13th.

RTID.

That's not true. I work in the rail industry and only 7 LNER trains ran from Doncaster to Kings Cross last Saturday. As for coming back, the last LNER left Kings Cross at 17:03. There was one Grand Central that left at 19:57. So that one could be very busy on the 13th!!

Looks like it's b*ll*cksed again then. As I said in post no 9, when you feel everything's OK, something will always happen to to knock you down.

That’s the spirit!

Col brilliant forgot about that - used to love the comedy show he had before hitting the big time. Was it on on a Friday night late on. Seem to remember being worse for wear watching it

What am I supposed to do, celebrate the fact that I won't be having a great day out that I planned 6 weeks ago?

Train details are now out for strike day. Following LNER departures will get you to London in time for the game.

07:58
08:56
10:29

Grand Central have 08:33 and 10:23, and also a 12:04 but that doesn't get there until 13:44 so probably pushing it.

There is one Hull Trains at 09:25.

Coming home there is literally one option, the 19:57 Grand Central. Final LNER leaves at 17:30 which is no good.

I also believe there is no cross ticketing in place, meaning if you have booked on LNER you will be expected to pay for a ticket if you use a different operator.

Just to add, Northern, TPE and East Midlands are running as normal. So there is the option of going via Sheffield to St Pancras, but I imagine you will be rinsed trying to sort that at this late stage.

most arnt and last LNER back is 17.30 just rang and got refunds as we were on 18.30 back and they wouldn’t or can’t automatically switch them to the grand central train at 19.57

Thanks, Dave. My only hope now is for someone without a full car to offer me a lift back, for which I'd obviously chip in with petrol money.

I was thinking of booking a seat on one of the coaches, and just making the return journey, as I don't particularly like coach travel, but it seems they're all fully booked up.

It’s £12.50 per day to drive within the ulez area. And you have three days after travel to pay it. And if you go into central London it’s an extra £15 for congestion charge. Same rules apply for payment.
If you drive a non ulez compliant gas guzzler you can easily avoid ulez by going round the m25 and then coming into Wimbledon via the A3. A little further, but less traffic and no charge.
