What would be your team to play
« on August 28, 2022, 03:21:45 am by Sammy Chung was King »
Against Newcastle utd u-21s? I would make a lot of changes. Promotion is our number one priority. We need to keep and get some players fit. It’s important those who come in put pressure on those with the shirt.

I would go with this side. Jones needs a game to keep him interested.I would stick with the same backline, it gives the centre halves another game to get a partnership going. I would put Maxwell back in for Rowe.

Move Rowe into a midfield partnership with Ravenhill. Let’s have a look at Seaman in his best position, Molyneux needs the game. Kuleya in the Tomlin role with Agard getting a start instead of Miller.

I would have a mixed bench. Goodman we need to have a look at, Miller in case he’s needed as well as Tomlin and Hurst. Whiting hopefully he can get some experience from the bench. Mitchell covering from the bench.

Newcastle like the 4-2-3-1 formation that’s what I would go with. Kuleya and the wingers need to give Agard plenty of support so that he isn’t isolated. I think this side would do well in this game.

If Taylor is anywhere near match fit, I would put him in the squad instead of Hurst, start him from the bench. I would give a rest to Clayton and Biggins our engine room. We want to win the game but not at the expense of losing players through injury or hurting our promotion chances. Who would you play?

                          Jones

                Williams.    Faulkner

       Knoyle.                           Maxwell

               Ravenhill.       Rowe

          Seaman.      Kuleya          Molyneux

                             Agard

Subs Miller, Goodman, Whiting, Hurst, Tomlin, Long, Mitchell

Not a bad call that. I’d be tempted to rest Tommy though. No idea who I’d play instead though.

Williams needs ‘resting’ for Saturday - Long needs game-time.

Biggins to partner Ravs. in DM.

Taylor will start, with Kuleya as back-up.

Rowe to replace Tomlin.

So,

Jones

Knoyle
Faulkner
Long
Maxwell

Ravenhill
Biggins

Taylor
Rowe / Barlow
Molyneux

Agard

I’d rather not start with Rowe or Knoyle either if we can get away with it. Knoyle came back from injury and took another physical battering at times yesterday. He is a really dependable player and at the moment we’re totally reliant on him in that position.

So from the first choice team I’d be wanting to rest Knoyle, Rowe, Clayton and Tomlin as a minimum. And if we can leave out Mitchell, Miller and Williams too then all the better. The rest need games.

Sammy, if you think Kuleya can play the Tomlin role you have a great imagination.

Why start another thread on this game?
There has already been an in depth thread started.
Surely it’s more practical to have all discussion on one thread.

The more the merrier, and yes this thread was posted as I typed with one finger I might add, probably the reason.

My apologies. I always expect to see the “Let’s talk about” thread every game. I assumed it was the first and read it first.
My mistake.
That will teach me to try to catch up quickly whilst multi tasking.

Any publicity is good publicity as an old Arsenal manager once said (Herbert Chapman) in the 1930's the greatest manager and innovator ever  " talk about Arsenal even if it's bad" and thanks for following the Let's talk about thread Idler.

I always look forward to it Brian.
It’s also one which doesn’t tend to have childish arguments and petty feuds clogging it up.
