It went through his hands. Ones through legs are generally because they haven't got enough time to react and out their hands down.

The player was close to him and Mitchell was expecting a shot or side foot attempt which were the obvious options.
No backlift from their player as he stretched and prodded it forward.
That’s how I saw it anyway. Disappointing but it happens.
We’ve seen far worse glaring mistakes from Man U’s international goalie already this year.

 :that:

Yes, the element of surprise or the unexpected, the quickness of a decision by an attacker can catch any keeper off guard.  It's not a goalie's error, more skill from the scorer's perspective.  A bit like Russo's backheel in the women's euros.

Which of course also went through the keepers legs.

Generally I'd say he's been a decent signing, particularly shot stopping. Would like to see his distribution improve though. How many times have we seen it go out for a throw in straight from a free kick? One of the most annoying things in football, giving away possession so easily.

Point being it’s more the attacker’s skill than a goalkeeper failing.

I am not disagreeing with you IDM, just emphasising how many goals are scored through keepers legs.
