Oh the lack of self-awareness on display here.

Scotland, as an independent country, would have a Govt deficit of 9% of GDP. The highest in Europe. It would have to massively hike taxes or massively cut public spending.

Blackmore himself, deceitful t**t that he is, has been lying to the Scottish people that if they vote for independence, the Westminster Govt will pay the pensions of everyone in Scotland.

Yes the Tories are playing fairytale economics, but being criticised for it by the SNP? It's like Clayton criticising Close for his first half performance today.

Coming from a place of complete ignorance, wouldn't Scotland do quite well with a small population and a big claim on North Sea hydrocarbons?

If they adjusted tax arrangements to attract the big banks as well?

I really don't know but the place seems to have things going for it.

The SNP have had basically no rational argument for independence ever since the prospect of the first vote came up, they rely on appealing to the emotional response.

It's all very much been an "it'll be alright on the night" approach to any actual detail. And they seem to be unsure of whether they're going to continue to use Sterling, the Euro or a new currency while being absolutely certain of fast-tracked EU membership. Absolute fantasists at best, conmen at worst.

Do they need a rational argument? brexiteers didn't have one, as I have said previously the mistake is theirs to make. There should be a debate where the economic consequences are separated from the b*llocks otherwise it will be like brexit. It would be a be irrational for brexiteers to bang on about sovereignty and then deny the right for Scotland to have theirs.

North Sea hydrocarbons is a rapidly declining asset. Meanwhile they have built into their system, spending which is 9% greater than their tax take. If they were independent, they'd be bankrupt on Day One. Which is why the SNP lie through their teeth about issues such as pensions.

They are a bunch of soulless Kitsons, playing a Braveheart culture war to stir up dislike, even hatred of the English.

I think it's fair that Scottish people could vote to be independent for cultural rather than economic reasons, that is their choice afterall.  But I do agree the snp should be clear it comes at a massive cost.

The snp also know it's their only card to play as they're nigh on useless at running the country and questionably corrupt with it (just read about ferry and shipbuilding contracts for a start).
