Worked with Ronnie at Ackworth in the early 80s smashing guy talked-about that goal saying that the ball bobbed up just as he way about to hit it and knew as soon as he struck it it was going into the net he also talked about rovers as well saying that he didn't like playing at belle vue as the pitch was way to big
R I P Ronnie

Ronnie's wonder strike, Ricardo Vila's wizardry goal and Keith Houchen's flying header... The three stand out FA Cup moments of my life. Don't even watch the FA Cup final nowadays....

Whilst I'd seen his famous goal dozens of times, I didn't realise until his passing that Ronnie had been born in South Elmsall. Frickley's loss...

I wonder if he was any relation to John Radford the Arsenal player in the double side about the same time, he was from that area, Hemsworth I think.
What an area that was for sportsmen, The Knowles brothers, Boycott, Curran, Alan Richardson the boxer, and some great rugby League players

Remember it well too. A goal that epitomised what was great about the FA Cup back then, big opponents, awful pitch, supporters virtually on top of the players, & a worldy to send the fans into raptures. Sadly its no more the pull it used to be. Personally I still look forward to it though.

There used to be quite a big plumbing firm, Radford Heating I think, from that way on.
Was he part of that family I wonder.

Couldnt agree more with those choices. Same here i dont bother with the final these days, such a shame that the cup is so devalued these days. But lets not forget David Harle"s shot on the turn from Snods awful free kick against QPR!

That QPR team was pretty decent as well, no playing weakened teams in those days
