Barnsley 0 Bolton Wanderers 3

Derby County 4 Accrington Stanley 0

Lincoln City 1 Ipswich Town 1   (scraped a late equaliser against 10 men)

Sheffield Wednesday 5 Cambridge United 0   (effectively Wendies got 4 points from this win !!)

and Plymouth will probably lose on Saturday at Bolton ?

Beaten today by a better side on the day who came with a plan and executed it very well .

Sometimes you just have to acknowledge that you were simply beaten by a better team .

I'll take a promotion via the play offs all day long but I have some reservations at the same time .

I'd like to be able to get back to the championship with a far better group of players than we currently have and if that's two seasons away then so be it .

you woudn't believe how may late late "fergie time" goals Bolton have scored this season - they have totally underperformed to date

I expected Barnsley v Bolton to be a a nil nil or one nil either way today . Lincoln did you a favour by sending a video of a Bolton striker "thumping" a Lincoln player - not spotted by the ref  - which resulted in that forward getting a 3 match suspension which you would think would weaken them today.

Not so I heard today in that match against Bolton - Bolton swopped all 3  of their strikers in the second half   -   which shows what strength forwardwise they have compared to Barnsley ( there is even talk of them signing Eaves from Rotherham)

then today Ipswich changed all 4 of their strikers in the second half against Lincoln bringing on "your old friend " Chaplin who apparently scored a very good goal.

That shows the strength of both Bolton and super-strength of the Ipswich mob  and we know the Wednesday squad is "massive" (on paper)

so just as after the home (was it ? ) 3-1 defeat to Charlton when the manager said you were "nowhere near good enough "- you put it behind you as a bad day at the office and play the same style as before just like Lincoln do.

by the way Charlton beat Plymouth 5-1 in the league this season

the only trouble is I am expecting someone to "nick" your manager soon

Probably over achieving this season after the debacle last season and the fact we've brought in players this summer without spending a penny after losing Styles , Brittain , Helik , Woodrow and Carlton Morris to try and claw some coin back .

Duff's done a tremendous job on not a lot and as you say it won't have gone unnoticed .

If we get 6th it would be a tremendous achievement .

Compared to the squad Stendel had the last time we were at this level it's way off , I wouldn't imagine one of the present group would be anywhere near getting in to that side .

It's a bit of a double edged sword is this , it's possible we get 6th and get the break of the ball in the play offs and find ourselves back in the championship .

However we'd need to replace practically the whole squad to have any  chance of survival and we just haven't that kind of financial clout .

We need to be getting back to the championship with a squad way better than what we have right now and even then it would be a struggle .
