........ darkening the skies of official Washington.

''Republicans aren’t going to tell Americans the real cause of our $31.4tn debt'' Robert Reich

''The rich used to pay taxes. Now they loan money to the US government – at a profit that everyone else pays for''

''They’re demanding that the $31.4tn federal debt be reduced and government spending curtailed – thereby giving cover to Republican efforts to hold America hostage by refusing to raise the debt ceiling.

It’s always the same when Republicans take over a chamber of Congress or the presidency. Horrors! The debt is out of control! Federal spending must be cut!

When they’re in power, they rack up giant deficits, mainly by cutting taxes on corporations and the wealthy (which amount to the same thing, since wealthy investors are the major beneficiaries of corporate tax cuts)''

These Wealthy US Citizens apart from Helping to prop up the US Govt by buying Bonds also on average donate 25 % of their wealth to charities, something that our Millionaires never do.
When Thatcher came into power 75% of all wealth in the U.K. Was inherited, at the end of her tenure only 25% was inherited, her only regret about this achievement was that virtually non of her newly made 'Wealthy' would ever emulate their American Counterparts and give generously to Charities.
You those Gala Dinners they have over in the US $10,000 for a ticket,
$1,000 a ticket for a Donated raffle Prize.

Biden's managed to halve the deficit from the eyewateringly record levels Trump ramped it up to in the short time he's been in office. So he's doing something right.

Yes by removing the COVID funding.  Trump was many things but he couldn't do much about COVID.
