Grimsby are the value for the title in L2. Gillingham and Notts county the dangers. Honourable mention to Stockport.

Grimsby. Have a day off, Gaz

I'm a little concerned we're just strengthening in numbers so the cover is better. I just don't think our first choices will be anywhere near good enough for the top 3. I think we'll hover around the play offs though. I'm just worried our business is done and we still only have a rookie with any pace and no real goals in us.

There will be more business to be done, McCann hasn't even started working with the squad yet. We will have more players coming in, I'm confident of that. He watched us last season as well so he will know what we are lacking.

I think we can be competitive this year, which is all we can ask for given the budget available. Anything but the horror show of the last 2.5 years will be a massive improvement.

Budgets are all speculative at the moment and will remain so until all EFL clubs submit their proposals to the EFL itself.

Are these published?

Not outside the EFL,no. But the clubs get the anonymised version and from there it’s quite easy to work out where you are.

Is it true John Ryan has gave the club 750k to go and get a striker out of it?

What do you think? As likely as Eco Power taking over, paying players wages and JR being offered a seat on the board??

This is just another one of those budget related articles that folk will choose to interpret whatever way they want.

Reading the words "seven figure investment" should make everyone happy and more confident but no doubt some will skip that and focus on the "unable to compete with some"

Once again, it's not about competing on paper, it's about a manager's choice on how best to utilise the funds available given the existing squad and existing contract commitments.

Our seven figures will go alot further than Wrexhams I reckon.
