Ben Blythe
« on January 08, 2024, 01:07:36 pm by VivaRovers »
Swansea have sent Ben Blythe out on loan to Barry Town United this season in the Cymru (Welsh) Premier where he's starting regularly at centre-half. Apparently he's been playing really well, and capped his performances by scoring two for them in a big home win over Newtown on Saturday. According to someone I know who watches Barry regularly Blythe looks much more composed on the ball than most in that league but can occasionally struggle against more physical opponents.

The Cymru Premier probably compares to mid-table National League standard-wise – Newport's  top scorer Will Evans was playing in it last season.

This isn't a 'can't believe we let him go' or a 'we should get him back' post... just thought folk might be interested.

I've often wondered how he'd been doing at Swansea. There was another youngster, Lewis Cunningham, who went to Birmingham. It would be interesting to know how he's getting on also.

He got released by Birmingham and then signed for Mickleover

A few years down the line yet but will be interesting to see how far those infants we sold to Man Utd and Leeds Utd get in the game.

Sadly the champ, prem, ex prem clubs can afford to have tonnes of development players and make a gamble.

That's sad.

These young guys chase the dream and these bigger clubs seem to see them as disposable.

Hope he find a club to restart his career.
