Beautifully argued...

Bob, let's meet. I'll buy you a pint and you can get it off your chest and talk to me personally, instead of hiding behind your keyboard.

Says the man hiding behind his keyboard lol!

Erm, I'm the one offering to meet ...

Are you going to come out with this every time someone upsets you? It's not a great look.

You're a grown adult who keeps effectively offering people out in the playground at break time. I think people have stopped taking you seriously.

He also clearly has no memory either. It's only a couple of days since I explicitly told him I am up in the Colombian Sierra Nevada mountains.

Of course, if he fancies popping over to Colombia for a couple of days, I can show him a few things he'll never, ever forget. If he lets me know what plane he'll be on I'll do my best to meet it. The nearest airport, kid, is Santa Marta.

I’m jealous Bob.

South America is a part of the world I would love to visit before my days are done.

I’ve been lucky to travel East and visit China, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore.
I have no desire to visit USA but South America looks and sounds amazing.

You seem to have made it your second home recently!

Hi Pancho.

This is my third time here. 3 months, then 6 weeks and this time 2 months.

As you can easily guess, I like it a lot.

I've also visited Ecuador. This time was supposed to include Chile and the Atacama Desert but it didn't work out.

If you do ever visit, you MUST either have a friend who speaks some Spanish, or speak some yourself. Life would be very hard without. Mind you, I met 3 Germans in Bogota who are motor cycling from Anchorage to Ushaia and none of them speak much Spanish. They use Google translate but it's slow in conversational use and is very open to misinterpretation.

South America is also very, very different. It ain't in the slightest like Europe, or North America. It is as 'foreign' as the Far East. But there are wonderful, wonderful places, sights, people. Medellin, for example, the city of Pablo Escobar (around whom there is now quite an industry) is a brilliant city. As far as liking it goes, for me, it's up there with Rome and pre tourist invasion Prague. I could live in Medellin. Indeed, I've thought about it.

Colombia is properly alright.

Bob

PS. Colombia is bigger than France And Spain combined. It stretches from its Caribbean coast (where I am now) through the Andes (with loads of FANTASTIC engineering), down through Amazonas to the Pacific coast. It has a different climate in every city. And have a Google of: 'el Rio de siete colores'. It's unique. It's also known as Cano Cristales btw

PPS. Actually, I run a WhatsApp group where I post interesting snippets and pics. It occasionally provokes interesting debates. The Colombian approach to the millions and millions of refugees from Venezuela is one example. Right now I'll just say it couldn't be more different to our approach if they'd spent 10 years trying. Comparing outcomes is pretty damn interesting too.

PPPS. You can even go skiing in Colombia. Mind you, I haven't. Imagine the complications if you break a leg.....

To be fair, I met up with Bob in a Cotswolds sports bar, to watch the first leg of the play off semi final with Crewe.
We sunk a few beers and had a great time, helped by the 2-0 win.
He is a great bloke.

I met Bob in the Cotswolds too.

At the Corner Flag at Forest Green in Conference days with little Gran O ( the late but great Gran ) and Alonzo Drake and it was a good "do"

Hadn't seen Alonzo for 15 plus years but he looked so strange with no Beard. I'd never seen him without one

We had photos taken and would love to see one

Enjoy Columbia Bob , sounds brilliant. You would be able to ski in Nailsworth soon without the language barrier problem

Nailsworth here I come!

Always a nice drive out to Nailsworth. The right combination of quietish, bendy roads for me to indulge one of my more base passions.
