Good old Sadiq Khan yesterday announced that electric vehicles would have to start paying the ULEZ charge from December 25th 2025. and a charge per mile was also being considered.
Not a bad start, although it is a bit previous to the starting gun.
The next question will be how long before the unpaid toll debt will be sold at a discount to a debt collection firm like the Dartford crossing debt was.
Be interesting to see how many of the ra ra boys put false plates on their save the planet vehicles like so many do living in south London.

But the Green Party said these incentives "were always going to be time limited".
Caroline Russell AM said: "If every Londoner drives an electric car we won't tackle congestion, air pollution or the climate crisis.“

So the real aim is to limit Londoners choice to be independent and travel in the mode of transport  of their choice, and the most convenient to them.
The last time the Labour Party were in power they were on the cusp of having the outside lane on the motorways going into London reserved for certain people, including politicians to get important people to where they were going quickly while the surfs queued in the other slow lanes.
I knew kids when I was young that saw the sea for the first time on a school trip, is that what you want? go back a hundred years and shred everything our forefathers fought for.
Why not introduce large tax rises on private jet travel  instead.

He has also pointed out that vast numbers of London residents are dodging ULEZ by false registering their Cars, an offence that only carries a £25 fine and is very rarely Prosecuted t he e vast penalty notice professing offices only write to the keeper, it’s all about milking the law abiding Car owner!
