Well said BB and many of us recognised his potential except the man who has unbelievably landed a mammoth contract.

Wonder if Hythe Town forum goes into meltdown when Alfie scores, scored 37 in 45 for them, 10 in 92 for us.
Can anyone resurrect the thread when Alfie left, in particular the one exclaiming total disbelief and despair in his departure? Serious request..

Lots of those 92 though were sub appearances so a bit of an unfair stat IMO.

I agree, I’ve always thought goals per games/appearances is wrong, how many times do you see a player come on with less than 5 minutes to go just to run the clock down/break up play. It should be goals per minute

He looked keen and enthusiastic for us, and I can understand why some people were sad to see him leave. But…he had done little to suggest he’d do as well as he has.

I don’t think any of us really expected it, despite what some people like to claim; perhaps a decent career for a small league 1/2 yo-yo team would have been reasonable to predict.

But he’s gone on and done great, so good luck to him. But why the obsession?

As I’ve commented previously, players who come late into the full time professional game always seem more hungry to make something of themselves and supporters always take to them because they’ve worked in factories, on buildings and the like Ian Wright, Jamie Vardy, Alfie May etc

Was it Watson who was a roofer before going full time with Rovers?  And Neil Campbell who was part time ?

I think Cukur was a circus clown before he joined us.

Didn’t Grayson quit rather than go full time ?
