Great news, well done young man.

There's always something special about 'one of our own' coming through the ranks and getting rewarded with a pro contract.

I haven't seen Kasper play yet but listening to GM talk about him, he's obviously a talented young lad with a bright future.

Great news. Thought he looked really assured against United U21’s in the Cup.

Think we’ve been doing the business getting him, SSB and Flint on pro deals. Be great to see more home grown talent breaking into the first team on the regular!

Great news. He reminds me a lot of Alan Hansen. Tall, slim build with dark hair.

I saw him play in the BSM trophy a few games back and he looks very good, good positionally, good on the ball and very calm.  To say it was his first start in the first team he really impressed me.

I get the feeling Kasper has leapfrogged Bobby Faulkner which is remarkable really because Bobby was seen as the next great thing.

Was he? Maybe on here given the level of hype he received but he’s never really featured under McCann which would suggest he didn’t feel the same way.

Will Flint, Sam Straughan-Brown and Kasper Williams all seem to be developing very well. Freddie Allen also.

The slightly older vintage of Jack Goodman, Bobby Faulkner and Tavonga Kuleya look like they will struggle to make a mark on this current squad. Could change if they have decent loans.

Development falls down between getting them from U18s to first team.

It's difficult isn't it but running a development squad is far too expensive. The Accrington owner has said running an U23 team has destroyed the club financially. In the past when we had one we struggled to find opponents to play.

When you see some of these U23 fixtures, smaller clubs like Colchester and Crewe play in these leagues, it must cost a fortune to play in the league

It's not all about cost. I had a chat with S'OD many years ago about the subject. There's pros and cons, but his overall conclusion was the output wasn't worth the input.

He said he would rather play friendlies with other clubs on terms mutually agreed with them, rather than committ to a full fixture list. He mentioned preferring to play 3 sets of 30 mins for example. He also said, they could be faced with times when they'd have to supplement the development squad with the odd first teamer, just to fulfill a fixture when they would rather not.

What benefits do Colchester and Crewe gain over us?

I don’t know the costs but we already have a good size squad plus U18s. We’re paying these lads already to be fit and ready to impact the 1st team. So it’s not player wages that make it unaffordable. Guess it’s paying for a ref and travel.

I’d have thought playing some level of actual match each week would help. For the younger players they need to get good level loans where they start competitive games and then train with us most of the week.
