Jimmy Greaves scored this goal, https://x.com/sid_lambert/status/1846437511574245708?t=LMlNorJPKz9CrGzs2qYH-g&s=19

It's called a work of genius on the tweet , and yet reminds me of Crewes goal on Saturday . There's often comparison to how it was better then or that play hasn't got faster but if that was the Crewe goal from midfield we'd be raving

My reaction to the Crewe goal - admittedly from the north end of the East Stand, so I could see how their scorer weaved his way through the defence, was that it was an excellent individual goal. Sometimes you just have to give credit.

Just what I said on another thread.
If one of our players had scored a goal like that we would have been hailing it a genius rather than looking at why a Crewe defender didn’t take our player out.

Sorry Hound, I hadn’t seen your post. The memory of that goal has kind of stayed with me (repressed) over the weekend - quite as much as Hurst’s reply.

Don’t apologise mate.  It just shows that at least two of us think the same way about this.

I fully agree, just saying that Saturday's goal was scored in the 4th division , and was quicker and tighter in play

Hound I don't doubt for 1second if one of our players startrd a run like that he would have been taken out by virtually all the teams we play

The Crewe player just ran in a straight line without going past anyone until McGrath laid on the floor.
