Although our recent form is concerning, I think there’s a lot of over reaction, I’ll take 3rd place and a superior goal difference of 1 right now, having said that I’ll have a moan and be pissed off along the way, we are well in the mix half way through the season, lets be positive for once

Success is promotion, failure is staying put, simple as that.

It was always going to be a tough rebuild last season for GM, there was a losing mentality around the club amongst other hurdles to overcome, however I don't think any of us thought we'd struggle the way we did 1st half of the season and if Joe Ironside hadn't scored late away at Sutton things might have been a bit different! The run we then went on was remarkable and the manager deserves credit for that , himself and the players really brought the excitement and feel good factor back to the club and the keepmoat was absolutely rocking. Unfortunately we just ran out of steam at the end but it gave us all great belief that we could carry on that momentum into this season but for me it hasn't quite happened, whilst we are well placed in the table the majority of performances this season have been bang average for me with GM still undecided on his best team and formation. Also we've had some shocking results away at Harrogate, Newport & Bromley along with the home mauling by Chesterfield (referee didn't help admittedly)
This might sound controversial but I don't think signing Billy Sharps helped us, Ironside was the focal point of a successful attack last season and although Sharps a goalscorer I don't think we play to his strengths and look a better side with Joe as lone striker. I was excited when we signed Billy & my thinking was we've got two 20 goals a season strikers & we're gonna piss the league! Unfortunately it's not quite happened so far, however I trust Grant to improve us in the window and hopefully we give it good go , the big squad should pay dividends 2nd half of the season and with some quality additions should be looking to win the league, or at worst automatic promotion  anything else will be a failure.

I think the reason we haven't seen more goals from Joe and Billy is that they haven't received the support or chances provided by our midfield.
You can't say either of them have missed lots of chances, we don't get decent crosses into the box, neither do we supply any through balls for them to run onto.
I would start today with Broadbent in a deep lying midfield position and Hurst and Gibson on either flank. Molyneux should be sat warming his backside on the bench. He is vastly overrated. Just my opinion of course.

I think Moly is off and he knows it, the whole point of his new contract was for us to get a decent fee.

I’m not going to jump on the doom and gloom wagon but the only thing I agree on is that the midfield is the problem.

I’ve said as much about the midfield in other posts so won’t go over it again apart from reiterating we need a ‘Whiteman’ like prescence in that midfield (easier said than done I know) because we are far too ‘lightweight’ there.

Anyway, we created some really good chances to have won the game, a fantastic strike by Gibson marred by a stupid, stupid reason to get red carded.

I was watching on TV & Grant with hands in pockets leant towards him as he passed him to go down the tunnel & with what looked like a one word or quick phrase & I don’t think it would have been ‘Unlucky son’!

Last point ‘gained’ as we enter January. As previously predicted, Fleetwood begin our run of five straight victories.
