The lads on loan and one other
« on March 09, 2025, 06:01:33 pm by selby »
Will Flint again played very well for Darlington at Hereford yesterday sitting in that central defensive position he has made his own while on loan there.
He has become an important player in the set up of the team and is performing at a high level week in week out for his loan club keeping it simple doing what he does well, putting a foot in when needed, plays the easy ball quickly, and is not adverse from pinging the ball longer or on the switch to set up attack from defence.
He takes care of the ball, recirculates it safely, keeps it simple and has a much more mature footballing head on his shoulders than his 19 years  would suggest. Well done again Will.
Bobby Faulkner is also fast becoming a favourite of the Buxton Supporters backing up his mid week MOM performance by being all action again handling a man mountain in the Oxford attack, winning his sides penalty when again getting a header at the far post that was handled in the area  for the first goal of seven, and making a good run out of defence and making a pass wide to the right winger who crossed the ball for the fourth goal, and unusually leading a defensive display that the manager mentioned in his after game interview, unusual in a seven nil win for his side.
  Well done Bobby.
Now the other one, Max Adamson was released by us last season from the academy, played in exit trials and as an 18year old backed himself and when approached by a team in New Zealand went there scored goals and led the team to promotion attracting a team in Perth Australia.
Teams in Perth play in a pre regular season floodlit cup competition  which is hotly contested being all local derby's each side playing six knock out games to get to the final. In the knock out stages he scored two goals and assisted in three other goals to get to the final yesterday against a team from the premier division and a much bigger budget.
The game ended 0-0 and went to penalties with nobody volunteering to take the first penalty. Max picked the ball up and scored in a 6-5 shoot out win. Well done Max have a ball out there buddy.

Sam Brown is another of our youngsters doing well on loans to non league clubs. Just a second year scholar he has left Bradford Park Avenue where he did well enough to attract Peterborough Sports at National  League North level joining Will and Bobby at level 2.
A great move for him which will stretch his development in a very physical, fast, highly skilled  and competitive level of football. He played the full 90 minutes v Spennymoor on Saturday in a 1-1 draw against a very good side.
In my opinion they will be far better served playing in this league than u21s which I consider sterile pit pat football where every player play the same way and only the odd individual develops their own personality.
Well done Sam, for a player so young to be playing at that level you have done well, keep it up and aim higher.

I particularly like the look of SSB and can see him having a good pro career.

Yes could end up a very good player if he tempers some of his play, he follows the ball a lot and loses the team a bit of shape, especially if he is upset having taken a knock, or commits to a bad pass and loses his head hopefully he has grown out of it.
He has pace and is very clever on the ball, and could go a long way.
Some have the idea the academy doesn't produce players, those three and some younger ones behind have a lot to offer and the loans out to good levels might just be the springboard the club needs to utilise, I think it could be, we want no more Aidie Moses released at 15, went to Barnsley got two promotions in the u21s squad and played for them for two seasons in the Premiership and also at Huddersfield, it seems  there is something about central defenders from  Norton  not getting on here.
