Billy wouldn’t pretend to fall if he had a good chance of scoring. Penalty all day long.

There can be contact and it not be a penalty though. Looks like the defender wrapped his leg around and got the ball to be. Maybe wrong tho.

The Barnsley defender had two hands on Billy’s back and clearly shoves him over.

I think the ref will have difficulty explaining to the assessors why he thought it wasn't a penalty, along with the assistant ref who also had a clear view.

The defender may have got the ball by accident but that was a good time after the push, and during wrapping his leg around Billy. I think the keeper would probably have saved it, so it was a stupid effort by the defender. Just bloody lucky the ref was 50 yards away and wasn't watching.

The ref was about 15-20 yards yards away and had a clear view of what happened.

From memory the ref was a yard or so outside the box when he waved it away.

Have you got problems with your keyboard?

The referee & ‘his assistant’ on the West Stand side need to be ‘dropped’ down a division of two after their shockingly poor decisions & ‘lack of vision’.

2nd half two corners taken by Barnsley, the ball was a good ‘balls width’ outside the quadrant. The Stand was going ‘ape’ on the second one, even the forth official stepped up to the linesman & had a word in his ear as looking down from where they were stood you couldn’t have helped but see the gap between ball & line!

You’ll not see a more obvious penalty……not given.

Shocking officials.

The fact we gave the ball away cheaply at the edge of the opposition box twice and they cut through us and scored twice in two and three passes is a concern.

Has to be a shape/ rest defence issue. Both remarkably similar goals in a lot of ways.

There's no pace in the team to recover during transition. Unless they're exactly where they should be (assuming they're coached to be in the right place) then we're in big trouble in those moments. We're a much better team without the ball, but most opponents have worked that out by now.

Both fullbacks were high for both goals. Essentially left COR and MP isolated and their instinct is to retreat in 5th gear when exposed. Someone has to engage.

We will start winning games when we restore to less possession and being more direct/ counter attacking. We’ve average more possession this season than last, and against better teams. It doesn’t really suit us as we have a midfield three that are duel winners as opposed to cultured playmakers. There’s a lack of forward, line breaking passes.

With the international break being on now and less football to watch I might go through the goals we’ve conceded and do a post on the trends.

We did a lot of this in the second half especially though. Broadbent was firing diagonal balls out wide to Molyneux, who took every one of them at pace and got past their left back every time. This worked for long periods in the second half but we failed to put any of the balls into the box away.

Moly's touch was fantastic on Saturday.

McCann seems to have become quite reactive, not sure whether it’s fear of losing because of the poor run, or whether it’s a lack of confidence in the bench (or both).
We started the second half strong and at around 60 minutes we were all saying that there was only one team going to win. They were tiring and making mistakes, Mcgoldricks legs had gone allowing us to push up a bit. What happened next - There manager took Mcgoldrick off and his replacement scored 5 mins later. Surprise, surprise McCann starts making the changes. Now I know it’s easy to give this assessment after the event, but a lot of us in the south west corner were all saying the same thing around 55 mins. Get Hamlin and Middleton on and go for them, after all, they’d had an illness in camp all week and a couple of their first teamers not on the pitch.
Like I say, easy with hindsight but it’s not the first time I’ve thought it

Eps, you weren’t on your own with those thoughts! Billy was running in quicksand second half and Gibson had gone. GM even left Billy on which amazed me. The damage was already done by the time he made any changes and it’s not the first time he’s reacted like that. The horse had already bolted, Grant!

Before the 55min we had the chances to have the game won we didn’t score players missed the chances.
Barnsley brought on a £750,000
striker who had scored 10 goals (7 in the league)
We brought on later than we should Hanlan and Middleton both free transfers both have not scored this season. Hanlan who is one of the worst striker options we have signed.
He must play up front against Bradford then we can all see how useless he is.
