Run ended
« on December 09, 2025, 09:46:09 pm by Chris Black come back »
By failing to score tonight we have brought to an end a run of 25 home league games in a row when we have scored, going all the way back to 22 October 2024 (v. Bromley).

McCann gone back to the madness of doing the same thing time after time of playing Sharp as a no.9. How many more times till he sees it, he’s a poacher in the box, he can’t lead the line anymore

That was absolute garbage. Couldn’t put 2 passes together all night

Think the run ended with a game where we didn’t register a single shot on target. Bit poor.

It was as bad as it gets that, they were a very poor to average team and were there for the taking.
Some very poor performances from players we can usually rely upon.
Was it just two off target shots all match?

Simply not good enough anywhere on the pitch!

Outnumbered in midfield - again - Mols and Gibbo redundant - nothing down the middle!

Very very poor.

Just an indication of where we really are. They were miles better all over the pitch, everyone of their players looked faster, sharper and stronger than ours. It’s going to be a long , hard process.

That felt like going back a couple of years where if we conceded that was it game over.

We hardly created a sniff of a goal. One or two half promising positions but so slow to get a shot off or wanted it on their favoured foot.

The long range effort from Close near the end is no where near enough of a goal threat.

Many years ago a very good friend of mine gave me a bit of advice that I've  never, ever forgotten:

'If something isn't working, doing more and more of the same won't ever change the outcome'.

It's looking like maybe it's time someone gave the same advice to Grant isn't  it?

It doesn't matter how much you change tactics and players, you will struggle against a better team.

Of course BB. But not changing things to try something different just guarantees it.

Stop the wide players which they did stops our team from scoring or creating. Outnumber the midfield players as Stockport did then we look really poor. Bailey Broadbent and Crew didn't work against their quick aggressive 4 in midfield. The long diagonal balls which have worked did not work at all last night. Infact their goals came from a bad pass from the back and picked up in midfield and a clearance which was deflected in to their midfield player led to their first goal.
We were over powered by Stockport so they closed down the full backs to stop us progressing. All I all we weren't good enough all over the pitch. But  for me the team is not as good as Grant believes we are, we are below average league one side with above average league 2 players.

I think we've got wingers who would rather score themselves than cross the ball to a striker. The likes of Billy have to just pick up any scraps on the rebound.

Both wingers were not allowed in the game last night and when they did get the odd chance to shoot they chose not to.
