Morecombe

I was just flipping through the footy leagues yesterday and was shocked to see Morecambes current position in the National league.
They are next to bottom on 34 points, 6 points behind Gateshead on 40 in 20th. place with six games to go.
They have a tough run in playing 3 of the top 6 teams.
To think it was only just over two years ago they thumped us 0-5 at the Keepmoat in Dec. 2023.
I know some people may say you reap what you sow and all that, but it's still for me, sad to see the demise of a recent football league club that we have had many contests with heading towards the National League North.
Looking at their results this season they have a lad called Jack Nolan who's getting on the scoresheet regularly for them and wondered if he's related to Kevin.
Anyway, good luck to Morecambe, and I hope they can climb out of the mire they are currently in.

Jack Nolan was the one who hit 17 goals for Accrington the other season. He went to Gillingham and did next to nothing there. Still only 24 but a very drastic career trajectory.

Hit with another winding up petition recently as well. Apparently its from debts owed from before the takeover, but still, not ideal.

Never liked them after they effectively sent us down with that 4-3 defeat when we were 3-0 up, i know it was mid season but had we held on we would've stayed up at the end of the season and they would've gone down instead however it was probably delaying the inevitable with how the club was run at the time.

Remember going there (or Christie Park which I'm sure will be near) and getting done 3-0 in the freezing cold when they had Rigoglioso in their ranks. We were lucky to get nil. Justin Jackson, who had played for the Shrimps, cleared the crossbar from about a yard out.

I was there that day I took a Morecombe supporter with me in the Rovers end.  Another long miserable drive home.
